Khabibulin

Oilers fan coming in peace. Would you like to trade for Khabibuling and give back Stuart. The deal is salary for salary with 3.750M and both guys are signed beyond this season.

Is this some sort of sick joke? A backup goalie would be nice but not if we're giving up assets.. especially not our 2nd best defensemen. Not a chance.

Nope Bullinwall has a SC ring. But what are you ready to give up to get him?

Or

How about Gerber for a pick. He has a SC ring too but just as a back up.

Khabibulin's cup run was incredible. His lateral movement was something I still look back on and wish that our goalies had. He was lightning going post to post and I would give up Stewart, or another asset not named Lidstrom, Datsyuk, or Zetterberg, in a heartbeat.

In 2003.

Not sure if the above BOLD is on our team...

If Khabibulin was making around 2.5 mil a year less I'd consider it. What an awful contract. I was going to suggest that maybe Edmonton will buy him out, then I remembered he was a 35+ signing.

We've got a winner with crappy numbers already. Remember Osgood? He's got some rings.

Given his salary, I like him better than Khabby.

Definitely not for Stuart.

And not even for a pick at that cap hit.(Wings couldn't afford it anyway)

crashman 01-25-2011 11:23 AM

Ever since the Wings tired to sign Nabakov, people on HFboards have been coming up with these trade proposals that include the Wings trading away our core players for their teams goalie (or back-up).

The Wings tried to sign Nabakov (a guy with excellent regular season numbers) for under 600K, it's not like they were trying to pull off some desperate blockbuster deal for a goalie.

thats a negative ghostrider the pattern is full.

VM1138 01-25-2011 01:59 PM

I'm assuming he wasn't serious in offering up a flaky, inconsistent netminder in exchange for our second best defenseman and proven playoff performer.

no thanks

When Khabibulin will be back from injury are interested in to have rental experienced back up. It might take only late pick. I think Oilers will offer Whitney and Hemsky too since they need to throw towel to the rink after a couple of weeks.

We've got this guy called Gustavsson. He won us a game a couple days ago.

You can keep Whitney.

That said, let's talk more about Hemsky...

Trading for Khabibulin makes ZERO sense for the Wings. Would rather have Gustavsson at this point anyways.... Wouldn't want Whitney either.

Henkka 03-04-2013 06:05 AM

What is this nonsense? :amazed:

We have no need for another experienced goalie, until either one has season ending injury.

So far the situation is nothing like that.

Why do you guys resume a thread from 2011?
