Kris Versteeg

Apparently he wants out, what would you give up for him?

Toronto willing to add for 1st line talent.

Dougie Seguin 01-30-2011 10:08 PM

do you have a link saying he wants out? im wondering because i havent heard anything that he did want out

BBSeabs27 01-30-2011 10:09 PM

I would love him back on the blackhawks. I'd do a prospect + solid 3rd liner (since that is what he was traded for. but i think his value has a decline a tad).

That's not exactly what happened, Doug MacLean on hockeycentral said that he's hearing murmurs that Versteeg would welcome a trade to a contender, which means nothing, who wouldn't. He went on to mention the Hawks actually. I'd take this with a grain of salt though, him and Kypreos are the same guys who came up with the theory that their was a masterplan to make Kessel the last pick....

Leafssss 01-30-2011 10:11 PM

You can check out the proof on leafs board, as for his value (other than wanting to be traded) it has risen, he is on pace for career highs without bolland and kopecky/ladd

Toronto would be stupid to accept anything less than what they gave up to acquire him.

BBSeabs27 01-30-2011 10:12 PM

ahh, I heard he wasn't doing well in toronto. In that case probably solid 2nd liner + draft pick/prospect

dubey 01-30-2011 10:13 PM

How has his value declined?

Out of curiosity, which 2nd liners are available from Chi?

IcedCapp 01-30-2011 10:17 PM

I really like him, would prefer he stayed with the team. If we have to trade him, I wish the Penguins had the cap room for him. Thought that would have been the best for him last off-season. Ray Shero needs to start signing players to 'salary-dump' type contracts.

Kopecky is really the only one available atm

We'll give you Stalberg back. :naughty:

ORRMAN 01-30-2011 10:17 PM

This league is all about value. Is he a good value? I seem to recall he signed for $4 million/yr.+. If that's correct, you're not getting much back without taking salary in return.

What about Morin? What's his value like to you guys?

Pretty much out of the question. Kid has too good of potential, I would compare him to a lesser version of Sharp atm.

Yeah, I figured he'd be off limits.

Meh, there isn't much substance behind this rumour, but it could be interesting since MacLean mentioned Chi specifically.

Pittsburgh gives Kennedy and a 1st, Toronto gives Versteeg and a 3rd.

hes not even a solid 2nd liner so why would anyone deal a 2nd liner+ for him?

His 3 mil + cap value kinda puts him in the place of a solid 2nd liner. He was great here in chicago, and not in toronto he just happens to be declining in skill? I think it's just toronto's coaching stuff.

his numbers make him a solid 2nd liner, the reason he is on the 3rd line is to spread the offence

Darkhorse1280 01-30-2011 10:32 PM

Just curious if Hawks fans would consider a Beach + small salary dump (ie: Scott) for Versteeg trade??

NewFang 01-30-2011 10:32 PM

Seems like most people don't have all the details on Kris...

He's 24 years old
Cap hit of ~$3M/per
Career high 22g/53 points
On pace for 22g/55 points
Pros: Good shot. Great stick handling and patience with the puck. Versatile player, who is solid on both the PK and PP
Cons: Sometimes tries to do too much. eg: Deke out the entire team.

Why do you keep saying that? He's pacing to do better than his last year in Chicago and hit a career high in points.
