Player of the Game & The Good, The Bad, The Redden: Game #53 vs. Pittsburgh Penguins

Player of the Game & The Good, The Bad, The Redden

The RulesWhat is the poll for?

You are voting for the player of the game - the one who put forth the most effort, who put the team on his shoulders, who contributed the most.

Do not vote for the player who had the best statistical game just because he had the best statistical game.

This does not mean you should not vote for the player of who had the best statistical game, but do not vote for him just because of that fact.

Who can I vote for?

You may vote for any player who dressed for the game and played at least one shift. If the player you want to vote for is not included in the poll, select "Other" and indicate in your post who you wish to vote for. In the case that I egregiously miss the player who everyone wants to vote for in the poll, I will count the votes in the thread.

What is this "The Good, The Bad, The Redden" nonsense?

It is my twist on the title of the famous spaghetti western movie, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.

Since multiple players may have outstanding games and you can only vote for one player in the poll, this affords you the opportunity to recognize multiple players, or a facet of the team, for their commendable play ("The Good"). This also affords you the opportunity to rip players, or a facet of the team, for their particularly substandard play ("The Bad"). Finally, just as "The Player of the Game" affords you the opportunity to recognize the best, this affords you the opportunity to commend the crème de la crème of the worst, who delivered an atrocious performance, or whose singular (or multiple) bad plays directly led to the the detriment of the team ("The Redden").

Good: Prust
Bad: Our shootout specialists
Redden: Girardi

Ail 02-01-2011 09:31 PM

Players of the Game: Ugh, I don't know, seriously. Prust I guess.

The Good: Wolski, Zucc, Henrik minus that rebound, Cally.

The Bad: Gaborik, Del Zotto.

The Redden: Some terrible calls, and retarded deflections.

Edit: The ultra super fail suck: The POWER PLAY!!!!!!!!

Vitto79 02-01-2011 09:31 PM

good. Dubi and Cally back
bad. Can't beat Pitts with Stars out
Redden- shoot out losers. Deke for god sakes

MSG the place to be* 02-01-2011 09:32 PM

Lets all cry about the shootout when some on here declared us the best shootout team ever assembled

Mint Berry Crunch 02-01-2011 09:33 PM

Player of the Game: Prust
The good: Dubi, Cally, and Girardi all looking good coming off injuries. Henk did all he could.
The bad: Gaborik, Drury, the usual. The line juggling seemed kinda eh to me.
The Redden: Losing to a team that by the third period, was devoid of all four of its starting centers (Crosby, Malkin, Staal, Letestu.)

MSG the place to be* 02-01-2011 09:35 PM

Consecutive games without a Chris Drury POTG nomination...

How many games have we been doing this thing?

Nosferatos 02-01-2011 09:35 PM

Shootout's like gambling, you win some and lose some.

DoTheBlue 02-01-2011 09:35 PM

POTG - Prust
The Good - Getting some people back
The Bad - losing to a pathetic pens line up
The Redden - The powerplay is beyond hope and it's going to cost them points going down the stretch.

Loffen 02-01-2011 09:36 PM

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins: 4
New York Rangers: 3

Florida Ranger 02-01-2011 09:36 PM

Losing is The Redden.

Two points or bust. They busted. ****.

Zuccarello Awesome* 02-01-2011 09:36 PM

Prust player of the game? For the penguins, maybe.

He had no business fighting England(sp?) there. All that did was give Pitts a boost. Great job.

Because he scored a goal? Please. Henrik kept us in this game and gave us 8 chances to get 2 points in the shootout. Brutal game. I hate Versus games.

you really think so? i thought Girardi looked slow and out of it

Wraparounds 02-01-2011 09:37 PM

Not a good one.

NYR510 02-01-2011 09:38 PM

I understand the shootout... but I think the overtime period should be longer.

BlueshirtBlitz 02-01-2011 09:39 PM

Bad: The powerplay.

We need Brad Richards or someone who can be the engine of a PP. Games where we lose because our PP doesn't know what the **** to do are painful.

NYR 02-01-2011 09:39 PM

The Good - Prust, Cally

The Bad - Drury, Gaborik, Lundqvist

The Redden - Rebounds & softies off of shots from the tops of the circles = Lundqvist

MrEctions 02-01-2011 09:39 PM

FFS people need to chill the **** out. What do you think other teams were saying when the Connecticut Whalers were beating them over the past few weeks. We didn't play all that well, and Pitt played a smart grinding type of game, they beat us with our own bread and butter.TBH I kinda would have rather had Sidney and Malkin playing, because Pitt plays a different type of game when they do, one that gives us more of an advantage, imo.

NYR Viper 02-01-2011 09:39 PM

I love Prust, but asking him to fight players like Engelland, Rupp, Shelley, etc. is going to shorten his life dramatically.

CaptainCallahan* 02-01-2011 09:39 PM

The Redden: In what was his effectively the last shift of his game, Kris 'I only look decent because I play next to Chris Drury' Newbury takes a completely avoidable elbowing penalty on Marc-Andre Fleury that leads to a very quick Power Play goal, followed by 2 more goals.

Well, perhaps I should reiterate. As good as one could look coming off injury. If I were to be brutally critical, then he was a step slower than he "should" have been -- but cutting him a little slack.

Loffen 02-01-2011 09:40 PM

Girardi had some brutal shifts in the 2nd. Those behind the net passes led to turnovers everytime.

Your Redden should be the referees because that call was absolutely ****ing idiotic.

Placid 02-01-2011 09:41 PM

This one is tricky...

PoTG : Have to give it to Prust, couldnt see any other obvious candidates today.
The Good : Prust.
The Bad : PP blows still, defense was shaky...really a bad team effort.
Redden : The shootout result

BlueshirtBlitz 02-01-2011 09:42 PM

Also, the real Redden is the rest of our schedule. We can very easily be in 8th by the end of the month if we don't start playing like we can and should.
