Wow. If it was anybody but Dreger or Bob, I'd be calling shenanigans. I wonder what the asking price is. Cause I'd love to have him in Calgary regardless of the fact that we have Karlsson and Kipper.

KrugLife 02-03-2011 10:41 AM

A change of scenery might kickstart his career again

Wow. What happened to this guy? I remember watching him alot in his rookie season and when he played in the OHL. He was so good for columbus in his rookie year. I wonder what teams would be interested?

Dogkota 02-03-2011 10:43 AM

It's really too bad he's with a divisional rival because I'd love to see a tandem of Howard and Mason splitting duties at the same cost.

I can't imagine Columbus is interested in letting him go cheap, even with his recent downturn.

zeus3007* 02-03-2011 10:43 AM

He's played so bad since his calder win, that I bet there is little interest. I wouldn't really want him in Edmonton, unless Boulin was going back (I won't hold my breath there).

Vasilevskiy 02-03-2011 10:44 AM

Voracek and Klesla also rumoured to be drawing interest

Sens Mile 02-03-2011 10:44 AM

Nah he is not, if you read the link it basically just states teams are asking about Klesla, Vorbacek, and Mason. Seems like vultures circuling around the dead piece of meat. Does'nt explicitly say Howson has put those players out there for trade

WJG 02-03-2011 10:44 AM

Mason is pretty much Raycroft 2.0.

Raycroft also got traded after 3 seasons with Boston (the first year winning the Calder).

HockeySensible 02-03-2011 10:45 AM

He's not on the block.

Teams have inquired about his avalibility, it happens all the time. It doesn't mean he's on the block.

Could he be traded? Sure, but I can't see it happening. Their goaltending depth is weak. They need defensive help for Mason, they don't need to deal him.

Doctor Drej 02-03-2011 10:45 AM

As a Lightning fan I'd take him. Let him learn a few things from Roli while backing up this year and take the starting job perhaps next year.

Wouldn't happen though, Jackets probably would want top picks, which SFY won't be trading.

TOML 02-03-2011 10:46 AM

ZERO value at the moment.

The kid needs to work on his mindset and game preparation in the summer. It seems that he's been called up too early, like so many BJs before him, and he is now ruined.

Columbus really needs to work on their player development. Not every player is a bulletproof, self-starting superstar like Rick Nash.

Either that or they need to somehow aquire more bulletproof, self-starting superstars like Rick Nash.

Saad Panda 02-03-2011 10:47 AM

I'd have no problem dealing him. This organization has never had success with waiting for players to hit their potential. If someone wants him and his 3.2 million, deal him. I know he's still got a bright future, but I'm not sure he can get there with us, and if you can get an asset back you have to pull the trigger.

Zubrus Coffee Maker 02-03-2011 10:47 AM

i could definitely see the Devils being interested. gives him a chance to play with his hero Brodeur, and hopefully he can bounce back and be our franchise netminder. the asking price would more than likely be very high, so that may take them our of the running but i am very confident Lou would at least be interested.

HockeyGuruPitka 02-03-2011 10:48 AM

Toronto is interested. ..

alpine4life 02-03-2011 10:49 AM

I'd wish Murray give a shot @ him.

Kuba, Wick/Butler & 3rd??? I dont have a clue what his value would be. Shined as a rookie & last 30 game of 2009/10 and litteraly sucked in the 1st half of 09/10 & 10/11

MHX 02-03-2011 10:49 AM

I'd love to see what he could do in Ottawa. He's certainly an upgrade on Brian Elliott and Leclaire (thankfully) won't be back.

I never get this argument.

Mason won ROTY as a 20 year old... how could that have been "too early"? He's just a cocky SOB and he needs to get slapped in the face with reality.

The only Jackets that were ruined by being rushed were Brule and Klesla. That's really about it.

Jrtu 02-03-2011 10:51 AM

Columbus may not be the NJDs or the EDMs of the league, but the team isn't all that great either.
Perhaps the reason why Mason is faltering is because the whole team is playing too poorly for him even to have a chance to steal games for the team.
Maybe a change of scenery will do him good.
And hopefully, save his career.

HockeySensible 02-03-2011 10:52 AM

People are selling Mason short. He has tons of Value.

He plays in the toughest division in Hockey, and he does so behind one of the weakest defenses in the league.

If I were Burke I would be more interested in Voracek than Mason

KrugLife 02-03-2011 10:54 AM

NJD would make a lot of sense for him actually

DwightKSchrute 02-03-2011 10:55 AM

Ottawa should snag him.

Mason(+)? for Fisher

Saad Panda 02-03-2011 10:55 AM

Well of course Voracek is drawing trade interest. But it's not like we're just gonna give him away. If he's drawing interest, it would be part of a big deal.

Dylbot 02-03-2011 10:56 AM

There will be a lineup of teams interested in him. Tampa, Ottawa, Philly, Jersey, Oilers and perhaps the Leafs would be at the front of that line.
