Dal/fla

Scott Glennie for Bryan McCabe

Brock Anton 02-05-2011 12:36 AM

Do you know who Scott Glennie is?

JeffMangum 02-05-2011 12:40 AM

Holy overpayment Batman!

I think a 2nd could get it done.

DuckEatinShark 02-05-2011 12:56 AM

So Glennie for a UFA that Dallas would have almost zero chance of re-signing because of the Richards' situation?

All of Dallas' division rivals say hell yes!

Brand New Stars 02-05-2011 01:03 AM

A top 10 draft pick regardless if it was a reach is way to much for an impending UFA. Like stated above, how bout a 2nd?

catters078 02-05-2011 01:28 AM

stars dont have second..well they do now, but they wont if they win a playoff round..

mccabe for Niskanen?

Florida would make that trade

Barbadian91 02-05-2011 08:39 AM

 dallas wouldn't even touch that.

piqued 02-05-2011 09:05 AM

I actually think this is a pretty good proposal, for both sides. I'd strongly consider doing it from Dallas' POV.

Gudbranson44 02-05-2011 09:11 AM

id do it without blinking

this was my second idea....

and i don't think glennie for mcCabe is overpayment considering glennie hasn't played a game in the nhl....McCabe would DRASTICALLY help the stars make a push....i don't think Glennie for McCabe straight up will happen but it is the start of a great trade for both teams..

.....even if he is a UFA the value is still there, the stars WOULD try to resign him and have an early advantage at doing so..

Getting a defenseman back isn't our biggest need when it comes to McCabe because that would mean Ellerby would stay up with the big club.
The nice thing about McCabe for Dallas, even at the DL, is that his salary this year was only 4.150 million, so that is a small plus for two cash strapped teams. We would have to add, but I like the main pieces in McCabe and Glennie.

The only problem is that there's likely zero money left to acquire anyone. It all went to Langenbrunner. The Stars had to dump Brunnstrom and Segal, both serviceable players, to make even that work. Meanwhile McCabe is still owed about 2 million for the rest of the season. That may be too much to overcome, even if Niskanen is kicked into the deal.

Hon? If he'd used the Internet to look 'em up, he wouldn't have misspelled the name. :)

Somehow I was thinking Dallas didn't have enough right wingers; why would they trade Glennie?
