Nyr-tor

NYR In: Kaberle

TOR In: Ethan Werek, 2nd round pick(1st is he resigns with NYR)

JeffMangum 02-08-2011 09:29 PM

If we're dealing Werek, I'd want Pitkanen back, which isn't happening.

No.

what do we have to add to get it done

Dreger said 2nd + prospect.

Folks, "prospect" does not equal the guy the other team just drafted in the first round.

2nd and a prospect for a "rental kaberle." an "extended kaberle" would be worth much more :naughty:

This is the NHL, not the NBA. We don't do "sign and trades."

What? Werek was 49th overall in 2009.

Unless you mean MDZ.

Nothing. I just don't see the Rangers dealing Del Zotto, despite his sophomore slump.

KrugLife 02-08-2011 10:02 PM

Burke would run with this

I do.

Value's about right, but I think I'd pass. Leafs don't really need another two-way center. We need to start picking up some skilled winger prospects.

Would the Rangers have any interest at all in Kreider for Kaberle+? Toronto could also eat some salary if it's required.

Not a chance. Kreider won't be traded unless we get a young winger/center back who helps us now and in the future.

Ranger prospects who might be on the block;

Grachev
Valentenko
Weise

Couldn't say on Werek, honestly. I thought NYR management was high on him as a potential bottom 6, but I think for Kaberle, they would be willing to deal him.

Also, I have no idea if NYR would trade Kreider or not. He is loved on here but has not really earned all of the hype yet.

Weise isnt a prospect, hes a 4th line energy player with limited offensive skills at best(Dane Byers version 2.0).i dont see the Rangers giving up on Grachev yet either.unless someone blows them away with an offer.

Weise is still a prospect under HF guidelines, I believe.

I would be open to WSH 2nd + Valentenko/Horak.

Fitzy 02-08-2011 10:23 PM

Not every single Ranger prospect in the system is "untouchable" or "near untouchable, needing an overpayment."

And yes, by hfboards standards Weise is a prospect.

It's pretty easy for the Leafs to pass on this garbage offer.

Rangers4Life74 02-08-2011 10:27 PM

he might be considered a prospect, but he isnt a very good one.

Considering Dreger is reporting that the market on Kaberle is roughly a 2nd plus a prospect, this might not be too far from what they receive.

If Kaberle decides to agree to waive at all, that is.

What is offered is not the same as what we'll accept.
