in his other fight he gets creamed by a guy hes got 40lbs on. i think his future may be with his gloves on

No, he isn't.

He fought Racine who's 60 pounds lighter than him. Also gives up 4 inches on this goon.

The knockout was good, though, but it's not something we've never seen before.

He is 17...and the 2 fights posted on the web are both decisive wins for him...I'd be interested in seeing the loss fight video if you can find it .

Post the other video so that we can see how he lost ... though in this one, he was damn good.

245 pounds at 17.

If he can play at all, he's off to a good start.

King Forsberg 02-23-2011 05:27 PM

Derek Mathers is gonna be one tough SOB to play against in the NHL.

He is being interviewed for the upcoming amateur draft in June so I have been informed by his family . He must be making a few ripples to get an interview at his age and lack of games played at the Junior level . Who knows...he has the size already and maybe he can develop with some coaching and training . It must be an exciting time for a young guy after about 20 + games out of Midget hockey .

Update

Undrafted at 18 and now heading to the Coyote camp as a walk on . Definitely a tough way to do things as an 18 year old with only about 30 games played outside of Midget hockey on PEI . He is training hard at a local gym and adding more muscle to his large frame . He also just won a Young Strongman award for our Province . Here is a link .

^ I posted this in February and now I couldn't be happier that the Flyers drafted him
