And we have a game....

Clock 02-13-2011 09:41 AM

The Islanders... AGAIN.

Ron Barr 02-13-2011 09:44 AM

Bleh. Islanders continue their tear on us...

boots electric 02-13-2011 10:04 AM

this has "blowout" written all over it. downturns after big emotional wins like they had the other night are common, and despite the fact that the gave more than they received as far as beatings go, they're bound to be hurting a little bit extra today

sabres by four or five

Chainshot 02-13-2011 10:08 AM

I will be there with my son, so I'm expecting the typical "hey, can they get more than one shot in the first 15-minutes of the game" start. That's been typical of most of the games I've attended this year. :biglaugh:

Timbo Slice 02-13-2011 10:13 AM

We're going to absolutely shred the Isles today.

Ghills23 02-13-2011 10:20 AM

I'll be there today. Hopefully we don't lay an egg against the Isles.

Zip15 02-13-2011 10:36 AM

It'll be interesting to see how the Isles come out in this one. Will they be sore from fight night the other night? Will they be distracted by the suspensions handed down? Or will they be emboldened by the fact they killed the Pens with that style of play, and start running around causing trouble, albeit to a lesser extent?

I think the Sabres would be wise to keep their head down and turn the other cheek for the most part. Get a quick lead and see if the Isles lose some interest. I think the Sabres will get to Koiskinen early, and win going away. Sabres, 5-3.

Tavares (of course)

3pm? Looks like I've got something to cure my no-football hangover.

aceface33 02-13-2011 10:44 AM

Nice to have a home afternoon game, I hope they bring the effort for all the kids in attendance.

"Continue"?

But we beat the Islanders last time, 5-3. I was there. That was also a 3pm Sunday game, btw.

SabresBillsBuffalo 02-13-2011 11:24 AM

Gotta win, Carolina plays Atlanta ): Sabres win 4-1

Kruschiki 02-13-2011 11:32 AM

This is a pretty big game. They need to beat teams like this to get into the playoffs.

barnell 02-13-2011 12:13 PM

Do the Islanders actually have enough skaters not suspended to dress a team?:sarcasm:

New Sabres Captain 02-13-2011 12:31 PM

McCormick better be ready to drop the gloves.

drinking bleach irl 02-13-2011 12:34 PM

Sabres win.

Rhett4 02-13-2011 12:38 PM

Any word on if Kaleta's back in? He could certainly stir up a depleted Islander hornet's nest. Either way, I expect Haley to be running around a lot today, and McCormick will likely have to answer the bell with him and Konopka at some point.

JOHNBOY 02-13-2011 12:48 PM

LETS GO SWORDS!

I mean their tear from their game against Pittsburgh.

Yeah, this is definitely a 'must win'. If we win, then in a way we don't gain any ground on a playoff spot. But if we lose, then we lose ground on a playoff spot.

Yeah, if we win then we gain on one team, stay even with the other, and maintain our games in hand. A win is big today.

From Harrington yesterday:

POST-PRACTICE UPDATE

Montador says he's aiming to be back in the lineup Tuesday night in Montreal after skating through the entire workout.

"We just took the right steps to make sure it wasn't anything serious," Montador said. "I think we did the right thing not to jump it too soon. I took the neuropsych test [Friday] and I aced it."

Ruff said Montador should be fully cleared for contact Monday. The coach added that Kaleta will likely play Sunday.

"He's an important piece of the puzzle for us," Ruff said. "He provides a lot of energy, creates some instability for the other team just becaue of how well he skates and forechecks."

If anything, I think the Isles are primed for a huge let-down game after that.

They were stewing all week after what happened with DiPietro getting KO'd, and were totally focused on getting their payback. And they got it in a blow-out win filled with fights. What usually happens after an emotional win like that, in a game you've been anticipating for a while, is a let-down.

SoFFacet 02-13-2011 01:07 PM

Anyone got a link?

This crossed my mind, but I think either way were going to see a pretty normal hockey game this afternoon....
