Tough, young, enthusiastic grinders to the Oilers.

It's getting to the point, well it's past the point, where the Oilers are mortifying to watch, future in mind or not. The rookies are completely gassed and the veterans, well, they suck and don't care at all. What's it going to take for the Oilers to get some personality on this team before the rookies want to give up?

We need big guys who go hard
Players to make the other team not want to come back
Guys similar to the ones we had in the early 2000s
Players who can rough it up in the corners and play
Players who make big hits even if it results in a penalty

Who has some guys like these they can dump and what's it going to cost us?

Mike Brown for Taylor Hall

Thanks for that

major lols, or something.

Pretty much have to develop those players for yourself, unless you grossly overpay. Their potential values in trades are much lower than their playing values to the teams that have them.

So, Victor Oreskovich for Anton Lander?

Major lols.

Leafssss 02-13-2011 10:42 PM

Colton Orr for 2011 second or jay rosehill for 2012 first

Nugent93Hopkins 02-13-2011 10:54 PM

Just call up Hartikainen.

Ricky Bobby 02-13-2011 10:55 PM

Chris Neil is your guy. He gives it his all every single shift and has no problem challenging his teammates and takes losing very personally.

Unlike a lot of other scrappers (he is only a middle weight) he is also able to take a regular shift in a third line role.

What do you want for him?

Something around Cogliano?

I don't think we can, isn't he frozen in Europe?

He is in Oklahoma City right now.

;)

Hard to be the AHL player of the week while playing in the SEL.

TrollololBoyle 02-13-2011 11:02 PM

I hear the Oilers want Dubinsky or Callahan. Callahan's one of the best grinders in the league... well, sorry Edmonton, but you can't have either of them.

umm Hartikainen is in NA and was named AHL rookie of the month for the month of January2011..

pens83* 02-13-2011 11:07 PM

Talbot, rupp, Kennedy, dupuis, and any of the crappy call ups would be cheap

Timbo Slice 02-13-2011 11:09 PM

Matt Ellis? He's pretty big and a great 4th liner. Not a gigantic hitter, but he goes hard every single shift and never, ever lets up. Really good at winning battles and cycling the puck. He'd be a really solid addition to any club looking for a 4th liner.

Tough, Young, Enthusiastic Grinders? I think you're on the wrong forum buddy.

Hipster Letestu 02-13-2011 11:10 PM

Michael Blunden for a 4th

FrozenKing18 02-13-2011 11:11 PM

Kevin Wesgarth for a pick?

Yeah. Any young guy that fits the OP's criteria and is better than Hartikainen is going to be held onto like grim death.

Uhh... cool?

BigHabs 02-13-2011 11:20 PM

Kevin Porter - Colorado
Derek Dorsett - Columbus
Jared Boll - Columbus
Chris Neil - Ottawa
Dan Carcillo - Philadelphia

Those are some that come to mind and probably wouldn't cost an arm and a leg to acquire.

Rscorpio 02-13-2011 11:21 PM

There's been nothing “enthusiastic” about playing for the oilers..lol

zeus3007* 02-13-2011 11:27 PM

We have some coming up, like Hartikanen. I honestly don`t see any of our 4th liners back next year, and these guys will be replaced by the type of player this thread is discussing...that said, I think I also said that a year ago.

AHL rookie of the month, I'm down for calling him up.

Have Edmonton been drafting like Detroit lately? Hartikainen @ 163 , Eberle @ 22, Paajarvi @ 10, Marincin @ 46, Hamilton @ 48, Omark @ 97, Martindale @ 61, Roy @ 133, Bunz is playing half decent @ 121(phone call for IIHF team?) :sarcasm:

The Rochester Rocket 02-13-2011 11:42 PM

David Clarkson for Tyler Pitlick?
