Kings @ Ducks; New Practice Lines

per hammond, we have new lines with sturm coming back:

Sturm-Kopitar-Simmonds
Smyth-Stoll-Brown
Richardson-Handzus-Williams
Clifford/Ponikarovsky/Lewis/Westgarth

should we consider that a demotion for williams...?

I don't think so. Looks to me that we're trying to have all three lines have balance.

Duc620 02-21-2011 01:39 PM

... TM's trying to put speed on both wings for Zeus....

Zad 02-21-2011 01:40 PM

ha ha. Seriously man, what is wrong with Murray? Does he have some form of incurable ADHD?

ibleedkings 02-21-2011 01:40 PM

Sturm on the first line again??? Puke

driller1 02-21-2011 01:49 PM

Why puke? The guy has 8 points in 15 games. That's even better that the All Star Loktionov that everyone seems to worship on here.

scramble91 02-21-2011 01:57 PM

Actually I dont mind the first line. Sturm has speed like Richie, and has a better nose for the net.

The second line is concerning because JW is the person on that line that controls the play. He is the one that digs the pucks out of the corners to get the cycle going. We all know this is not one of Browns strengths.

The first line doesn't look bad. Terry has tried the 2nd line combo before, and it was never successful. Hopefully it works out.

driller1 02-21-2011 02:12 PM

Everyone relax. If you don't like the line combinations, just wait til the 1st intermission on Wed.

TonySCV 02-21-2011 03:08 PM

Sturmface!

Brown still isn't on the first line. That's a plus.

Sounds like you're resigned to the fact that it's only a matter of time.

I like how Murray continues to break up the most productive line the Kings have had this season (Smyth-Stoll-Williams). Observe the even-strength line production numbers from this season: http://www.dobberhockey.com/frozenpo...uction&sent=go

Is there a first line?

I would have liked to see Smyth-Loktionov-Williams for at least one game.

Sturm-Kopitar-Simmonds
Smyth-Loktionov-Williams
Poni-Stoll-Brown
Clifford/Richardson-Handzus-Lewis/Westgarth

Shouldn't Murray give at least a couple of games for the lines to gel? I wonder who is running the ship? Dean or Terry?

Zad 02-21-2011 03:41 PM

Murray doesn't know it yet, but he is a genius. He is accelerating with each bizarre move, even if incrementally, the odds of him getting fired. He is taking one for the team.

Sydor25 02-21-2011 03:42 PM

EV BROWN,DUSTIN - LOKTIONOV,ANDREI - STOLL,JARRET - WILLIAMS,JUSTIN 2

We need more lines with four forwards. :naughty:

I definitely support him in his fearless endeavor.

johnjm22 02-21-2011 04:08 PM

If anything, Williams should be on the 1st line, and Sturm on the 3rd. Williams has consistently been our best winger this season.

Williams should work with anyone, but I hate seeing him and Smyth split up. They work amazingly well together and can make a line between them regardless of who the center is.

If the Kings lose another game or two in a row, absolutely. Brown has been playing better of late (of course, it was hard for him to play much worse).

Where does Brown rank on the Kings as far as goals scored?

Tied for first with Williams.

ANY winger in the NHL should be able to pot 20 goals in 60 games with Kopitar has their center. Brown's point and goal production is separate and distinct from whether or not he is best utilized as a first line winger.

I like Brown a lot but Brown's game shines as a 2nd or 3rd line winger where he can keep it simple and be more effective.

All of this nonsense is a direct result of Lombardi failing to fill a gaping hole at wing prior to the start of this season, and we've been stuck with a merry-go-round of less-then-ideal first line wingers as a result.
