Germany bound?!

Kings-Sabres to open in Germany?

Here's an article that someone posted on the main forum:http://www.bild.de/BILD/sport/mehr-s...in-berlin.html Chrome automatically translates it for me so if you can't read German my bad.

So I guess there's gonna be some angry Germans if we don't resign Sturm:laugh:

AKAY47 02-24-2011 01:37 AM

Wasn't Tomas Vanek talking about this a couple weeks ago? He mentioned something on his twitter or something, saying that the Sabres and Kings were to open in Germany. I could be wrong though.

I still want a winter classic, NYR-LAK in Central Park, NY hahaha BOSS

TonySCV 02-24-2011 01:40 AM

I want to know where they are going to open so I can book my tickets.

I was in London when the Kings opened their season there and had an awesome time. Can't wait to do it again.

Herby 02-24-2011 08:10 AM

Still mad I missed London.

Won't miss this one. I wonder if both games will be in Berlin or if they will do two different cities.

Albi 02-24-2011 09:27 AM

Sean, you'll finally be home

Dave33 02-24-2011 09:29 AM

Don't the teams involved in overseas openers nearly always suffer a hangover?

Albi 02-24-2011 09:34 AM

Btw Sean, Chiara is coming with Marco.
You could spend a few days in Italy before the game then we can move together to Berlin.

Telos 02-24-2011 09:45 AM

Don't see any way Sturm is there with us at the beginning of next year. He would have to get healthy quick and put up ridiculous numbers and be a monster in the postseason. I am not fond of showing off overseas, because of the risk of losing focus. If we can maintain our game I wouldn't care, but those are long flights. Not like we have a say in it though...

Yeah, but a long flight in first class is not the same as a long flight in coach. Generally I agree, it's a gimmick and it seems like they could get some other teams to participate before sending us over there for the second time, but whatever. Any trip to Europe is a good trip. :)

RAZZIE King 02-24-2011 10:51 AM

I wonder if we can talk Braun into signing with us...

Sounds like a good plan!

If he took a paycut, he could be a really great option for secondary scoring on the 3rd/4th line.

The Tikkanen 02-24-2011 11:43 AM

Oktoberfest is scheduled between Sep 22 and October 7th, seems like a natural combo.

Kurrilino 02-24-2011 02:33 PM

The article is saying that there is an idea for this and how much the german teams
would profit from this event.
Basically it's just about how cool it would be to have 2 german hockey millionairs playing each other.
But the dscision isn't made yet and the owners have the last word.
You better wait with your ticket booking

I can't believe soemone found this article.
the Newspaper "Sport-Bild" is for the absolutely lowest society the planet has ever faced.

Good job anyways...

Cruel11 02-24-2011 02:35 PM

If we get the premiere, then no Winter Classic. Exactly what Bettman wants.

maybe here is a missunderstanding........

what i try to say is that absolutely no average joe would touch this newspaper.
Even Al Bundy would refuse to read it.
So it's a hell of a job to find this article......
