Awesome. I was holding my breath waiting for your top 20 rankings to be released. :sarcasm:

Not a bad list though. I might move Cliche and Zatkoff up a little though.

muzzin should be higher than voynov and forbort, the kid has already been in LA. he's further along in development than those two. while V and Forbort may have a higher ceiling in the long run, Muzzin is higher up LA's depth chart than those two. to rank teubert and hickey above muzzin is also out of whack for the same reason

Dwight King has already played for LA too, doesn't mean he should be higher than Schenn. The rankings are entirely potential based, if you look at ours from HF they very closely coincide with the player's potential score over their ability with a few exceptions: http://www.hockeysfuture.com/teams/los_angeles_kings

Teubert ahead of Toffoli, Deslauriers and Muzzin? I agree with most of this except for that part

kingsfan 02-27-2011 02:48 AM

I think I'd have waited until Monday night before doing this, as it could change some.

That said, I'd move Forbort up one spot and slide Hickey in behind him. I'd also put Kitsyn ahead of Kozun.

Meh. I agree Teubert and Toffoli are a bit of a coinflip, but Teubert still has amazing potential. He doesn't have a sliver of hockey sense, but the tools that he has been naturally given will get him into the NHL, even if it takes him a decade to develop. Can't say the same about Toffoli, though his potential is looking a little higher now.

As for Muzzin, I don't see the fascination. I like the guy, but he is a 5/6 defenseman all day everyday. He is a Drewiske and A mart with size. Delauriers is a 3-4 guy, someone that projects like Visnovsky. He has the most upside out of any defensive prospect, I would say about equally with Hickey, but obviously time is on his side unlike Hickey.

but can you tell me honestly how many Monarch games you have watched this season.

Sam 02-27-2011 09:49 AM

By HF standards, the guys who either have graduated or will graduate by the end of this season are Clifford (GP), Lewis (GP), Drewiske (GP), Cliche (age), and Clune (age). Martinez will fall just short of the 65 GP mark and Bernier will be well short of the 45 GP mark for goalies. My list:

1. Brayden Schenn
2. Jonathan Bernier
3. Vyacheslav Voynov
4. Derek Forbort
5. Andrei Loktionov
6. Tyler Toffoli
7. Martin Jones
8. Nicolas Deslauriers

11. Alec Martinez
12. Thomas Hickey
13. Brandon Kozun
14. Dwight King
15. Linden Vey
16. Jordan Weal

18. Maxim Kitsyn
19. Robbie Czarnik
20. Andrew Campbell

He doesn't project as an NHL'er in my opinion, at least - especially, not on this team. He doesn't carry with him any of the assets of a bottom 6 grinder, and he doesn't possess the skills of a top 6 winger. Most rankings have him between 17-23 on our charts.

Not many, about 5 or so. This is all in fun. Not serious business at all :)

Fat Elvis 02-27-2011 10:11 AM

No love for Czarnik? Kid is pretty good. Would think Vey would be ranked a little better as well. Tough crowd.

AKAY47 02-27-2011 10:27 AM

Czarnik is a man among kids in the OHL this year, I wouldn't look into his stats too much. If he can dominate in the AHL next season, then yes, I would start looking into him as a solid prospect. Right now, he's kind of like a Geordie Wudrick, who DL cut last year lol

Not giving up on Hickey. Just re-adjusting expectations. That injury he had last season has set him back. Hickey's essentially having the season Martinez had 2 seasons ago (Hickey's roughly one and a half years younger than Martinez).

Yep. FWIW, I see Hickey ascending to the Monarchs captaincy next season, while Cliche moves up to a 4th line/healthy scratch role with the Kings.

Hickey will be a King one day, but he'll have to wait about 18 months or so.

Well on my list, Schenn, Bernier, and Lokti are a pretty obvious top 3 imo. Voinov has been the best dman in Manch this year and he earned his ranking with his solid play all year. Clifford is a guy who is already in the NHL and looks like he will be there for years to come, so thats why he's at 5. Muzzin has had NHL action and has proved he can handle it. With a bit more maturity and consistency, he will be a great defender for us and I see him on the team next year too. Forbort has a very very high potential so he comes in at 7. 8 is Jones, who has been one of the best surprises this year and according to Hammond, could be our backup in a few years (and I don't disagree at all). Then in comes Hickey. It's not so much giving up on him, just other prospects proving more/having a higher upside than him.

johnjm22 02-27-2011 02:53 PM

Even though Moller isn't considered a prospect by HF, he obviously still is one.
