Mitchell practicing fully after taking a puck to the face last night. What a guy

Is this what we saw in the 3rd last night?

DAkings20 03-04-2011 02:05 PM

It's one change, big deal.

Knock Westgarth off the 4th and those lines are exactly what they need to be

Ziggy Stardust 03-04-2011 02:36 PM

They have to remove Brown from the third line. For all the people who said that Brown should be a third liner, just look at how ineffective he has been in that role. He needs to get back to being used as a 2nd line RW.

A few nights ago he was buzzing all over the ice, causing turnovers with his aggressive and abrasive forecheck. Then you look at last night where he kept killing offensive zone cycles with his easy reads that were picked off by Phoenix.

I recall one of the knocks on Brown from his draft day scouting report was that he lacked hockey sense, and it still holds true today.

How are the Kings supose to play with 3 first line players on the First line?
It will be missing that 3rd line presence!

riznat 03-04-2011 03:03 PM

Quicks playing tomorrow

HeadInjury 03-04-2011 03:03 PM

I'm in favor of the change with Williams. You need someone with good puck handling skills to compliment Kopitar and Penner on that line. Simmonds isn't that player.

Cruel11 03-04-2011 03:04 PM

Perhamond:

QUICK will play against the Canucks!

Jonathan Quick will get the start in goal tomorrow against Vancouver, Terry Murray said after practice today. Murray cited Quick’s ability to bounce back from bad games, as well as his familiarity with the Canucks, as two reasons, but said Bernier would get regular work here in the late part of the season as well.

I don't like the call, but it is hard to not be comfortable with either goaltender playing. I suppose if we make the playoffs the Canucks would be one of the teams we would likely face so it is good for your #1 to get the experience.

It took a solid year, but we finally have a lineup I love.

As far as Quick... I'm busy eating crow from the last game, but I don't mind this move for tomorrow. Quick's done well vs. Vancouver this year and he's got extra motivation (as does the rest of the team) given the playoff result last year.

But is that because of the line he's on?

He's had plenty of games playing in the top 6 where he was inept offensively.

johnjm22 03-04-2011 03:28 PM

I love those lines as long as Westgarth isn't playing. Also, I think going back to Quick is the right thing to do. You've got to show confidence in your starter; the guy has been a big part of getting us to where we are, you don't turn your back on him now.

Good call. Bernier played great but Quick's the starter on this team and Vancouver is arguably the best team in the league.

It's great knowing we have a backup that should be trusted though, so maybe TM won't burn out Quick this year.

Lanius 03-04-2011 03:33 PM

Bernier needs to be well rested for the playoffs :sarcasm:

DAkings20 03-04-2011 03:35 PM

Bernier deserved to start but whatever. Quick usually comes back good from horrible performances, so hopefully he plays well.

JBernierFan 03-04-2011 03:38 PM

Bernier deserves to be in net. :(

That said, at least Quick is usually good against Vancouver. Let's home he can come out strong and shake off the last 4 periods.

RonSwanson* 03-04-2011 03:38 PM

Quick has played very well vs the Canucks this season. Why mess with a good thing?

Maybe Quick looks great in practice? I don't know about this move but Quick should be refocused and ready to go vs Vancouver if the coaches want to start him.

Go Kings!

Lanius 03-04-2011 03:40 PM

as expected it was only a matter of time. one thing I noticed lastnight: Simmonds is usually first in on the forecheck, then you had Kopitar buzzing all over the ice, it pretty much forced Penner to play the high slot,.. not ideal for a big man.

KopitarFAN 03-04-2011 03:42 PM

Murray's hypocrisy continues. Win and you're in, BS.

Let's start the JT goalie lovefest off right ...

Win and you're in lasted barely longer than it took for him to say the words. There is no hypocrisy, he just clearly changed his mind. Good move this time, imo, gotta go with the #1 and show you have confidence in him.

... Glad Murray gave that first line about two periods to see what it could do before panicking again and doubting his own judgment. And once again, he breaks up his most consistent line. How ridiculous.

... I'm all for Quick getting the start against Vancouver, but again - this is just another case of the head coach doubting his own judgment and not giving enough time for a philosophical change to show any tangible results. I don't really blame the players if they're tuning Murray out at this point, because I'm starting to do that myself. Why pay attention to what the coach says when that's going to completely change 20 or 30 minutes later?
