Not that I care about power rankings but...

http://www.tsn.ca/fantasy_news/rankings/nhl/

Rangers at 10. Sabres at 21. LOL. Who comes up with this stuff? I know only rankings that count are standings.
I like the idea of the Sabres being below the radar. Maybe we get a backup goalie here or there thrown against us?
But something tells me the Sabres are not below the radar of most teams, just Toronto-centric TSN.

Actually they have the Rangers at 9th.

TSN's rankings have always been the worst (or the funniest, depending on your mood). They use a flawed formula based on stats and injuries, rather than on actual wins and losses. Thus, they often feature a kind of bizarre break with reality.

Scott Cullen's fantasy rankings are solely fantasy rankings, he uses a formula and plugs in stats. Taking them as a serious ranking of team performance is a mistake.

Fantasy Rankings are just that; a fantasy..

Much more realistic, imo:

You know things are clicking in Buffalo when Rob Niedermayer scores a goal -- his first of the season.

Click the link that says "Scott Cullen's Power Ranking Methodology is explained here" and ponder how Lindy's coaching style might skew some of his assumptions about ice time and game impact.

It's not an issue of "lack of respect" or of the Sabres "flying under the radar," because the rankings aren't based on Cullen's personal judgment. He has a particular stat-based formula that spits out the rankings he publishes.

That said, his formula is obviously seriously flawed. We've known this for years. It's flawed because it doesn't do a very good job of reflecting what is actually happening in NHL, especially in terms of on-ice results.

Those rankings were last week before Buffalo got hot. Now the Rangers are 16 and the Sabres are 17.
