This is indeed true... I know them both personally.

philb613 03-11-2011 12:51 PM

I've grown up with him in Kanata since we were like 9, just thought I'd be nice and give people a heads up.

Minister of Offence 03-11-2011 12:52 PM

Sweet, can either or both of ya tell us a bit about him? Playing style, character? Whatever.

sens83 03-11-2011 12:52 PM

Ok, so what's his game like?

Offensive, defensive d-man?

Ghost in the Shell 03-11-2011 12:56 PM

Think a smaller version of the Brian Lee we've been seeing lately. Good mobility and decent vision, but will probably end up as a stay-at-home D-man at the next level according to his coach.

philb613 03-11-2011 12:56 PM

He's a d-minded defenceman, was captain of the knights. He's basically Chris Phillips like I guess would be my comparison to current Sens. He's physical block shots do the little things, he's probably not gonna light the lamp a ton but he puts up decent numbers playing a solid defensive game. He was by far the best d-man on his team in college. The guy has a great work ethic one of the nicest people you'll meet too no cockiness or bs like some young guys, very smart. He's only gotten better every year he's played so I think he might be a late bloomer and you'll see him make the jump to the NHL in a couple years.

Marty Straka 03-11-2011 12:58 PM

He's good at both ends of the ice.. he produced more points at the Junior level but he's been able to put up decent numbers in the NCAA.. before leaving junior he was named the CJHL's Top defensemen. He's very sound defefensively and is not afraid to throw the body around. His 1st year in the NCAA was a bit of an adjustment process.. but from then on he's been a leader on and off the ice... being named captain this year and is probably their best defensemen.. definitely a good addition to the Bingo Sens.

EDIT: ya.. what phil said lol.

Minister of Offence 03-11-2011 12:58 PM

Cool stuff, Brian Lee was going to be my guess just based on size and numbers.

And the pronunciation?

can someone confirm this?

philb613 03-11-2011 01:01 PM

Bor-Vee-et-ski

philb613 03-11-2011 01:02 PM

And Brian Lee isn't a bad comparison either.

ShutDownDefense 03-11-2011 01:03 PM

So this is about the third prospect Ottawa has signed in as many days? Definitely refilling the roster spots for Bingo.

Don't all ELCs need to be 3 years?

FolignoQuantumLeap 03-11-2011 01:05 PM

He's a nasty mofo out there. Think a meaner version of Gryba with less size. He produced well in the CJ and was given PP opportunities last year and capitalized. Murray once told a friend of mine (who is also friends with Mark) personally that he thinks Mark can be a bottom pairing D in the NHL on a below average team in the NHL after a few years of grooming.

I've met Mark a few times. I really wish him well and look forward to him playing in Bingo. Will he complete his degree?

The Mars Volchenkov 03-11-2011 01:07 PM

We got a lot of defensemen down in Bingo now. I wonder whose gonna be sitting.

philb613 03-11-2011 01:07 PM

I'm guessing he will. He just sent me and my buddies on facebook a message saying he signed. Haven't talked to him since but might see him tonight as he's home right now.

I heard Boroweicki plays with heart and is a heart and soul guy, I thought he was more of a Luke Richardson style Dman???

philb613 03-11-2011 01:15 PM

Haha no like I said guy is crazy dedicated I just talked to him on the phone and he's not even going to drink tonight. But he's definitely excited.

philb613 03-11-2011 01:17 PM

Comparisons are hard I never really saw Richardson when he was any good so I can't compare but he is a heart and soul guy great character. So i guess in that respect it works.
