Do the *clap clap* potty dance!

TwzKing 03-14-2011 10:52 PM

First... glad the wild are going down

Zad 03-14-2011 10:54 PM

Off topic a bit, what is the song they play between intermission at games? Not the offspring one, the other one. Is it Muse?

etherialone 03-14-2011 10:56 PM

Its gotta be frustrating to be a Wild fan. Minny is such an over the top hockey state it has to drive them insane every year they don't get close to winning the cup.

They can call us in a few decades to commiserate.

One of the darkest moments in NHL history for me was when the North Stars left Minny and that state was left without an NHL team. I was in shock...and pissed off...happy when they got the Wild but I want to see them do well. They are the real hockey state.

i grew up in MN (moved in 79 when i was 13), at the time the NHL and the Stars weren't on the radar. the NHL was on the radar as something to watch on TV. i remember the weekly game was all that was on at the time on either NBC or ABC. but everyone was wrapped up in youth hockey, high school, college, pro - in that order. i seriously doubt much has changed since then.

i know this past weekend my grandma was glued to the TV watching the HS state tourney. by dad's hometown made it to the semi's and the school i would have gone to and played at lost in the finals. she was going insane from what my dad says. she took me to a few of the HS games from my dad's hometown after we moved and we were visiting over the years.

when i was a kid we started in 1st grade and had an A and B team for each level at our elementary school. obviously not all kids were into hockey, but we had two full squads from grades 1-6.

on the weekends when they were in town i was down at the arena to watch the UMD games every weekend.

it is a hockey culture, but i think it centers around what's closest to you. ie, your kids, the local school, the local college. if there is time left and you live close to the Cities then yeah I guess there would be interest in the Wild.

3-1 Nucks after 2.

johnjm22 03-14-2011 11:50 PM

I'm amazed at the Wild's payroll. They're almost right up against the CAP, and having nothing to show for it.

Bouchard, Cullen, Zidlicky and Backstrom are taking up 17.5M in CAP space for the next 3 years. Koivu's 6.75M contract kicks in next year.

Sydor25 03-15-2011 12:04 AM

3-2 now. 15:28 to go.

Cruel11 03-15-2011 12:09 AM

The Sharks GDT is hilarious. They changed their avatars to pictures of Toews.

Haha

BOARD ANNOUNCEMENT

The All-Time Favorite Sharks tournament planned for the coming off-season has been canceled. Instead I am going to decree that Jonathan Toews is the winner now and for all time.

Anyone have a problem with that?

Also a random Clowe fact. But what Vs failed to mention is that Jonathan Toews personally has bigger hauls when crab fishing than the entire fisheries industries of Newfoundland and Maine combined.

I saw that too.

JT is becoming the Tom Brady of the NHL. The announcers/analyst won't get off his jock.

KopitarFAN 03-15-2011 12:21 AM

The only thing i like about the Nucks is that they have a guy who shares my last name. (Chris Higgins)

He has the intangibles!!!

KopitarFAN 03-15-2011 12:23 AM

Penalty shot for the Nucks.

EDIT: Stupid Wild play by play guy.

EDIT: These guys are epic homers.

Sydor25 03-15-2011 12:27 AM

The sisters just blew a 2-on-1.

Wild PP with 2:10 to go. Their 6th PP.

3-2 'nucks.

SLang 03-15-2011 12:30 AM

Didnt think I could hate Vancouver any more, but if they let Minn tie this up......

Sydor25 03-15-2011 12:31 AM

Wild lose in regulation. :handclap:

KopitarFAN 03-15-2011 12:31 AM

Thankfully they hung on.

TwzKing 03-15-2011 12:33 AM

Huge game tomorrow .... I can taste first place.

SLang 03-15-2011 12:33 AM

And then the only Canuck I semi-like puts it away for them. Good.

DocWest 03-15-2011 12:33 AM

I'm glad The Wild faltered. I have a difficult time "cheering" for the Nucks.

HeadInjury 03-15-2011 01:00 AM

San Jose @ Dallas

Phoenix @ Calgary

Not sure who I should root for here. Dallas and Calgary I suppose. Probably should just root for no one getting the pity point.

TonySCV 03-15-2011 01:11 AM

9 of San Jose's final 12 are vs. Pacific teams... and they have the best record vs. the division. http://www.nhl.com/ice/standings.htm...02011&type=XVW

Kings will have their work cut out for them.

BehindEnemyLines 03-15-2011 01:18 AM

Man this postseason race in the west is crazy! Glad the sharks lost.
