Flyers Secret Slurpee Machine

I suppose the primary flavor is orange.....?

Hopefully, Lavy doesn't extend his rage from the coke machine to the secret slurpee machine

I have the same problem as Boosh...sweat like a fiend!

Thanks to a new slush drink that the Flyers' medical staff has concocted to cool the body quicker and allow it to recover faster, Boucher hasn't had any problems cramping up on the ice in as long as he can remember.

Walk into the Flyers' locker room on any given day and you will see a slush machine that looks just like those in a 7-Eleven or Wawa. But while the frozen treat - which starts as a green-tea extract and comes in different fruit flavors - might taste good, it provides important nutritional replenishment that can be tailored for each individual's sweat loss.

Didn't the Eagles try something similar a few years ago only with pickle juice?

Yea, but this seems more effective.

I hope Boosh never gets a brain freeze during a stoppage... I know that I'm stopped in my tracks, unable to do anything, when I get one. :amazed: ;)

All this talk about the slurpee machine is making me drool for water ice.

I can't wait for it.

Isn't Rita's open? If so, you know what you need to do.

Yeah they are but I only go to John's or Italiano's.

Call it a pride thing.

Try Pop's off Broad and Oregon... Your pride will stay intact... But I only recommend the original; can't speak for any franchise location.

My favorite is the Pina Colada over Chocolate half & half... but sometimes you just need a 100% Lemon. And there are times for a Cherry... But the high calories preclude getting any too often (sigh).

Yeah Pop's would be my third choice followed by Marrone's but I'm never in the area(thankfully) where Marrone's is located.

Also, my favorite water ice place ever was a tiny little place with green and white awnings on 4th and morris. It was called Manzo's.
Best water ice EVER.

Sadly, the folks who ran the place got a little too old and the kids and grandkids chose not to keep the business going.

They would have special flavors of the day and the most special flavor, appearing only on Sundays after Church, was Cherry Vanilla.
They were the only ones in the whole city that had that flavor without having to combine cherry and vanilla ices separately.

There would, literally, be a line a block long waiting to get that water ice.

How those days are missed.

When I call "Italian Ice" water ice, people in this area look at me like I deserve to be committed.

the usual response is a smartass "water ice? what, you mean...ice?"

I get that a lot, too. My college roommate and GF were both from Jersey - and not Philly Jersey, either - and they'd both say that. They were also both Italian. I assume it's a pride thing. Frozen confections are a big part of heritage, y'know.

Well in Italy they would look at you funny if you asked for an Italian water ice..because they refer to them as a "granita" and they are very good!

They're both far from old-world Italian.

We're talking American "I make my own pizza so I'm authentic" Italian.

When people say that to me I just respond that it's not quite water and it's not quite ice. Hence, water ice. It makes perfect sense.

Hey Doom, the granita in Italy is off the charts ridiculous huh?

Interesting thing about granita in the boot. It varies from town to town and region to region. In Apulia they have a granita called "granita di caffe" made with coffee. Off the charts indeed.

I've done the same, but by that point they're dedicated to just giving me crap. Educating the ignorant in the ways of water ice is a hopeless battle.

Believe me, I would rather die than date anything like that.

Good news then, dating that might kill you. There are diseases there that would make science marvel.

It is but I still prefer the gelato...I've tried the granita in Calabria but the gelato all over. That coffee granita sounds great though...

I will say that Capogiro is pretty good here as far as the gelato but still in Italy it can't be beat. I don't think I've had a granita here yet....I'm thinking in NYC you can find it but not sure about Philly??
