The Flyers announced today that they have recalled D Danny Syvret from their American Hockey League affiliate in Adirondack.

Interesting... I guess they'll test out what mess the Serviette can handle.

I haven't seen that connection. He replaces Gustafsson for now.

SeanVT395 03-22-2011 05:20 PM

Do not want.

DeadPhish5858 03-22-2011 05:34 PM

Gustafsson was sent back down? I need to keep up with the news more.

From Chuck Gormley:

According to Paul Holmgren, Danny Syvret was called up because another D-man was in danger of not playing. Syvret will NOT play tonight.

O'Donnell?

Interesting news.

Is there a rule about how soon you can be recalled after being sent down? Why not get Gustafsson back up? Even if he hasn't been a revelation out there I don't think he played that badly. Or maybe they just don't want him to sit in the press box too often.

No specific rule is applicable in this instance. The purpose of Gustafsson's promotion was to acclimate him to the NHL play for one game on the recent road trip and then return him to the Phantoms upon its conclusion, which happened earlier in the week.

As it turned out, he was recalled because Timonen had stiffness around his neck.

Aaaaaaaand he's been sent back down to AHL.

"Flyers have loaned (D) Danny Syvret to their AHL affiliate, the Adirondack Phantoms, according to GM Paul Holmgren."

(D) Danny Syvret this evening. He will be available to play in tomorrow's game vs. NY Rangers.

It seems to me that the coaches still have not come to a decision who they will play in case Pronger is not available in the first playoff round.
Syvret has been solid in his first game with the big club - same is true for Boynton and Gustaffson but none of them has really shown anything special so far.
