With all of our talk about our prospects having to earn their chance to play on the big club AND when you add the fact that Moller is now finally back with the Kings you have to believe that Bud will get his shot. He has earned the right to try for it and I think he will get it sooner rather than later.

Kingz4life 03-29-2011 01:20 AM

If, he can't get a shot with Wesgarth/Harrold as the only options as the 4th line RW'inger then I don't know when he can get his shot. I know its a risk this late in the season but the guy has put up solid numbers for 2 straight seasons and is known for his two way game.

We need to call up somebody. He seems to be the most logical option.

My man Buddy. Hoped he would get a look this year, but were down to the wire, I would think he would contribute more then Harrold or Westy. One day soon, Buddy, one day soon.

He can't fight like Westgarth, and he can't play both D and forward like Harrold. Is he more skilled than either of them? Probably. But Harrold, and Westgarth both fill very specific needs on this team. Holloway needs to come into camp next year and win a spot on the third or fourth line the way Moller, Clifford, and Simmonds did, that's really the only way he's going to get a shot...

I agree in principle with what your saying but BH is a much beter two way forward than PH by a stretch. BH has grown so much as a player over the past two years that to me he seems like he has a really good shot at developing into a gritty stay at home 3rd liner as soon as he gets his chance.

I agree his best chance is to come to camp and take his spot away from any other contender but if I were to chose between he and PH as a forward I am going with BH every time.

Did anyone read Future Greats and Heartbreaks by Gare Joyce? There's a funny bit about the Jackets combine interview with Holloway. Something about him buying weight sets at wal-mart, because before then he would just work out lifting bails of hay. Or something like that.

It would be interesting to see Holloway in at least 1 game
before the POs.

But that would only really be necessary if things aren't going well (ie we start losing multiple games).

If we keep winning & don't get more injuries to FWs,
we won't need Holloway.

But if we lose a couple in a row, and the FWs corps
could use an injection of a fresh element in the last 2-3 games,
then I say, give Bud his 1st taste of NHL action.

And if he should shine, stick with him as 4th line RW,
right on into the POs.

And I always have been partial to the word, bud.

I hope Bud gets a chance. A guy I went to highschool with played hockey with and a guy I still see at parties in the summer back in sask occasionally. A guy with that much skill in higschool and even now one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet. Doesnt have a big ego at all for an athlete. If you didnt know he played hockey you would think he is just a local farmer. Goofy guy really. Works extremely hard as well on and off the ice.

Hes been putting up solid numbers the last 2 years. Leading his team 2 years in a row, and is tied for 10th in the league for goals with 28. Defensively responsible. Decent size at 6'0 201.

He also led his team in playoff points last season and tied an AHL record for playoff game winning goals with 6. Its a risk starting a player in his first NHL game during the playoffs but if the kings go down a couple games quick this is a player I would defintely look to.

I wasn't a Hollway fan even up to a year ago. But I've been following his progress the past few years and I really want to see him get a shot, and it seems like he'd be a nice asset to the 3rd/4th line next year.

I hope we do away with PH and Westy next year and open up a few spots up front for guys to have an opportunity. We already need to decide what to do next year with Loki, Schenn and Moller, and Hollway has earned his shot as well I think.

I'd be surprised if we don't do a deal at the draft to unload some of our more mature prospects on D and up front for someone who can help out now.
