Hard to tell exactly what row that fan bridge will be suspended over. Certainly it appears to be above the upper level...but beyond that anyone have an idea?

Isn't the roof holding it up? I'm also pretty sure they are putting in a new roof, but I'm not too sure, so maybe the new roof will be supporting it.

Probably an older picture judging by the Gomez jersey in the crowd.

Swedish Fish 03-29-2011 05:17 PM

I really hate that bridge, so many things could go wrong, I hope they scrap it.

nyrmetros 03-29-2011 05:20 PM

As long as this still happens in the new arena..........

Yes, I'm pretty sure the roof is holding it up. I was wondering what row in the upper level it will be above. Personally I find the whole thing distracting and hope my seats are in "front" of it.

What's scary is that took place in 1982...hard to believe that from the quality of the video.

I still maintain that the bridges will be scrapped. It's one of the last things to be put in place and MSG will have spent so much money on this by then (wouldn't be surprised to see final number go over a billion) that they'll probably just say "**** it", it's not worth the problems it may cause.

I have mixed feelings towards the bridge. I could care less if they scrap it. But if they actually build it, I'll be pretty excited to see/go on it.

I haven't been keeping up with this stuff. Does that mean the Rangers playoff games will be held elsewhere?

I'd be pretty surprised if you're wrong. It just seems like a bad idea.

prob not, or at least i hope not. theyll likely just close of certain areas and continue working like they are now.

Rangers and Knicks will be unaffected. All playoff games will be played there even if it runs until June. The big parts of the renovation won't take place until both of their seasons are over whenever that may be.

I really am not digging that overhang.

While I think it is a awesome new viewing perspective to the game, I think it looks like an eye sore and something that would take up a lot of space.

Who really wants to spend the whole game starting straight down on the ice/court?

More importantly, who wants to spend the whole game being distracted by people walking around above them? Then again, only people in what would have been the old 300s/400s would be bothered, so it's not like that matters.

17futurecap 03-29-2011 06:45 PM

Are those actual seats on the bridge? I wonder how you are going to get onto the actual bridge. It looks like the roof is supporting it, and it is hanging over the 300's/400's,maybe an elevator will take you directly to the bridge?

It'll probably connect those new fan decks they have on the 10th floor. And I believe there will be seats on the bridge. I forget where I read it but they said there will be less seats in the seating bowl but the extra seats on the bridge will help it reach the 18,200 the arena currently stands at.

It is above the lower bowl, but it looks directly in front of the 400's. It looks like you will get onto the bridge on the same floor as the 400's.

17futurecap 03-29-2011 06:54 PM

Ahhh got ya, hope they just scrap them.

broadwayblue 03-29-2011 07:09 PM

As much as we would all hope the fan bridges or whatever they are called get scrapped...i just don't see it happening. They are one of the signature pieces of the new Garden.
