Alfredsson, Karlsson, Gonchar, Svatos all done, Petersson practicing with sens

Via twitter.

Petersson hasn't been signed yet. All the rest of the guys out are done, Clouston says not sure whether Alfredsson will play again. Surgery a possibility.

Minister of Offence 04-04-2011 11:29 AM

Jesus, and we're still probably going to win 2 of 3 down the stretch lol.

This year? Please say yes.

Like, ever?

The Waffler 04-04-2011 11:32 AM

Yay go Petersson

Sucks for the rest of them though...

Does he doesn't know if Alfie will play ever, or just this season?

Marty Straka 04-04-2011 11:33 AM

Really sucks for Svatos... he was finally getting healthy and into his groove.. then bam stick to the face.. Now Im not sure if he'll be even able to get an NHL job next year again. I would be open to signing him cheap.

Showing the value of goaltending...?

We really struggled against the leafs, if we don't play Anderson I think we go 0-3

Any news on Petersson's injury?

Ramon108 04-04-2011 11:36 AM

Gonchar said that would not go to the World Cup because of a concussion. I understand from the news via twitter - he has a chance to get to the World Cup?

Expect Anderson to start all 3.

FolignoQuantumLeap 04-04-2011 11:39 AM

They mean he likely won't play again this year. If that's the case he's probably going to opt for surgery.

It would be great if Petersson signed and got a game in. Its a good sign that he's here. He seems to be interested in being a part of this, which is good because he's probably our most gifted forward prospect.

He certainly does have that "natural" goal scorer look.

They may sign him to a two way & let him start the season in Bingo. Having a guy in Bingo with NHL goal scoring experience doesn't hurt. I'm guessing that Keller won't be re-signed which could open up a spot for Svatos.

pepty 04-04-2011 12:01 PM

So Svatos is finished for the season.

Interesting. Damien Cox tweeted at the game that it was a dive and that Svatos was "a practiced diver.", and that he couldn't possibly have been injured by the hit.

Cox would not admit he was wrong even when Svatos left the game with a concussion and just kept insisting he couldn't have a concussion from the hit, end of story!

I guess its too much to expect that he'll apologize to Svatos.

ZekeA 04-04-2011 12:01 PM

Quick question could Petersson be signed to an ATO for the last 3 games in Ottawa???

dmarc 04-04-2011 12:01 PM

Word on the Twitterverse was that Petersson is rehabing a knee injury which is puzzling to say the least.

It's hard to keep all the different rules and restrictions straight, but I'm pretty sure Petersson isn't elgible to play for us this season. At least without passing through waivers.

I don't know for certain but I would think that he would sign an entry level contract the same as most of our prospects have signed since he has never played in the NHL before.

Why would he have to go through waivers if he is one of our prospects, he isn't a free agent? Why couldn't he sign an entry level contract same as every other prospect we have had?

If that's true that he has to clear waivers, could it be because he was under contract in the SEL this season? :dunno:

MikeyMagic 04-04-2011 12:23 PM

I don't think Petersson would have to clear waivers, since he is our prospect and not a free agent. As well his SEL team is eliminated. I assume it would be the same situation as Marcus Kruger with Chicago. He played in the SEL this year and once they were done, he signed with Chicago and is playing for them now, without passing through waivers.

Basically this. In order for AP to play, he has to sign. That's about it. No waivers or anything, he's a drafted player who we still own the exclusive rights to.

The Waffler 04-04-2011 12:35 PM

Yeah I think there's exceptions for ELCs. So I'm not sure he would have to pass through waivers.

SENSfreak_03 04-04-2011 12:48 PM

Like how important Spezza is to the team overall, without EK our transition game is putrid, and we just look lost in our own end. Him being out could definitely lead to a 0-3 finish.

makes me hope for 2 things :

- Karlsson and Petersson are the best friends in the World
- Ottawa has the best spine specialists in the World
