Round 1: Detroit vs. Phoenix

Coyotes will be looking for redemption this year. Bryzgalov will get talked up a lot but I don't think he was anything special last year. Hopefully Howard can be better this year and Z comes back soon. Wings in 6.

mindfly 04-10-2011 03:08 PM

Basically the only difference is that detroit starts at home this year, they haven't played good at home, i still think detroit can squeeze it out in 6 or 7.

hyduK 04-10-2011 03:14 PM

Wings in 5.

babcockscowl 04-10-2011 03:22 PM

Wings in 5

Cruiser008 04-10-2011 03:24 PM

Frankly I thought last year's Phoenix team was better, but Detroit hasn't had that killer instinct all year. Still, DRW in 6.

ProPAIN 04-10-2011 03:25 PM

I hate these polls, I feel like I'm jinxing my own team. But I'll play along

Wings in 6

yeah once I did a pretty detail analysis of how Wings can't lose against Edmonton in 2006 and vote Wings in 4.

obviously, I don't vote anymore.

Will try to add something to this thread in coming days. I'm too fired up from the win to write anything meaningful right now.

Any word on how soon Zetterberg will be back yet? Crucial for this series.

I was just reading the mlive article about the last game and they said Red Wing officials believe it will actually be Wednesday - game 1 and Saturday - game 2. Obviously this isn't official. But didn't Doc say game 2 would be Saturday afternoon. Regardless, an extra day break for the wings between games, I am cool with that.

mindfly 04-10-2011 03:46 PM

CBC, TSN etc gets to "draft games" first so count on that they will want habs-bruins on hockeynight in canada a.k.a saturday (and thursday for game 1)

Naych_PHX 04-10-2011 03:52 PM

Good luck, fellas.

No, I mean.. that's some good ****ing luck to be playing Phoenix again, the 2nd year in a row. Thanks for humoring us.

Wangs in 6/7

Fresh Prince 04-10-2011 04:03 PM

Detroit in 7

Kindl

Ok, so in this series , who do you guys think will play, Kindl or Salei?

From what I read, Kronwall will be back for game 1? So then this decision between Salei and Kindl will need to be made...

Shoalzie 04-10-2011 04:12 PM

These rematches from the previous year can be tricky...especially against a team that took you to seven games but thankfully, the Wings came up huge in Game 7. Considering how tough the road will be, you don't want to deal with long, physical series where you have to travel across the country.

WingedWheel1987 04-10-2011 04:18 PM

Coyotes are better this year then last year.

Detroit didn't play very good last year against the Yotes and still won without home ice.

If Z comes back midway though the series, then I go Wings in six. If not Wings in 7 without Z. If it comes to game 7 its a coinflip. I DO NOT WANT GAME SEVEN.

Wings beat a team that needed it more today against the Hawks on the road. JOBING arena = Joe Louis Arena Jr.

If the Wings play well, they win simple as that. They have more talent and more experience. If they play sloppy, the Yotes have a great shot to win.

i have a feeling it's going to be salei to start the series. however that might change if things go south

joe89 04-10-2011 04:21 PM

Wouldn't be surprised with a game 7 win, again.

redwings85 04-10-2011 05:07 PM

I got a feeling Wings in 7...
Would like to see 5/6 But right now if the Wings can't flip the switch, I see 7.

DaFranzenator 04-10-2011 05:17 PM

Detroit in 5.

mindfly 04-10-2011 05:19 PM

Nucks-Stars
Sharks-Kings
Wings-Yotes
Ducks-Preds

If wings win against phoenix i'm pretty sure wings will face san jose in the second round - again, so 1st and 2nd round will be exactly the same as last year...second round against the sharks starting the first two games at the sharktank... 5on3s against here we come... (yeah i think too much into the future)
