What would you offer for Evander Kane?

I can't be the only person who drools at the thought of him playing in Ranger blue (in a very hetero way mind you :P )

So, thats my question, what's the most you would offer for him?

Wraparounds 04-12-2011 01:31 AM

Simply? A lot.

mrjimmyg89 04-12-2011 02:20 AM

Zuccarello, Grachev, and a 1st

hpNYR 04-12-2011 02:34 AM

We can propose our offers but he isn't going anywhere.

jas 04-12-2011 05:34 AM

I'm filing this thread alongside the "what would you give up for Doughty, Duchene and Weber" threads. Someone was a bit bored, I guess?

maaaybe

truth be told, was just watching some video highlights and such of his and started to wonder what kind of a package it would take to get him. would be fairly substantial, but we have SOOOO many redundant parts on this team and going forth that it may be time to make a splash.

I don't think ATL does that.

SupersonicMonkey* 04-12-2011 08:19 AM

It would have to be similar to what Toronto gave up for Kessel. 2 firsts and a core player I would guess...

2011 1st + 2012 1st + Anisimov

Don't see anything less getting it done for their future franchise player.

NYR Sting 04-12-2011 08:36 AM

For the price it would take, there are other, better young players around the league. Not that anything like this is going to happen, anyway.

mcsauer2738 04-12-2011 09:55 AM

girardi kreider 1st?

That's what I believe it would take to get it done. I personally would offer Anisimov, Valentenko, 1st and say take it or leave it, in which case they'd probably leave it

Swept In Seven 04-12-2011 09:58 AM

he wont be going anywhere but for fun:

Grachev, Wolski, 2011 1st and 2011 3rd

surf 04-12-2011 09:58 AM

Not even close..They would "ask" for Staal..

EEDAWGZ 04-12-2011 09:58 AM

weren't they calling him the face of the franchise, good luck

New York RKY 04-12-2011 10:00 AM

It would have to start with something along the lines of Anisimov and Del Zotto+++.

Am I the only one not enamored with the kid? Jeesh.

Probably. lol

He seems to tear us apart everytime we play the Thrash... Speed, hands and physicality. The kid is great.

RMcDonagh 04-12-2011 10:17 AM

I guess I'm the only one who doesn't drool over other teams players. I'd rather NYR grow some visual elements and knowledge required to draft their own good players than trade for other teams talent.

Plus, these never work, every NYR fan will lowball ATL and every ATL fan will lowball NYR.

Grachev? Already people hate him right? He's not quick enough in development so he needs to be moved. Prototypical New York fans.

Wolski? Garbage. Zucc? Garbage. No team wants these players. Their value is low.

Try Anisimov, Dubinsky, Staal, DZ. One of those + more.

Not sure what there is not to like. He's physical, has been trending upwards point-wise (both goals and assists), good wheels, good size (and could get bigger) and is only 19.

I agree that the price would be high. But you're talking about two different categories when you put a Dubinsky or Staal with an Anisimov or Del Zotto.

Not directed at you, but I don't think ATL is looking for prospects. They want young established NHL players they can control for more than a season.

Lion Hound 04-12-2011 10:25 AM

Excellent young player with all the tools. I don't think he tops out as a superstar, but definately as an All-Star.

Here's what i would offer to get him...

2011 First and Second.
Michael Del Zotto

Or...

Matz Zuccarello
Michael DelZotto
2011 2nd Rounder

Or...

Carl Hagelin
Michael Del Zotto
2011 2nd Rounder

I just don't see the high-end offensive skill that everyone seems to have. Is he a 60 point player? Yes, but I don't think he's that impressive. Sure, he's 19, but I think it carries more risk than everyone perceives.

I would make any of those deals. I am willing to give up our talent for another teams talent and those are 3 very good offers...not sure Atlanta would do it though.

RMcDonagh 04-12-2011 10:38 AM

Put yourself in Atlanta's shoes.

Do you want DZ after an abysmal sophomore season? Sure, he's worth a shot. He's young. But for an improving young forward? Ask yourself: Does ATL need d-men? Offensive d-men? Might not be a glaring need. Do they need picks? Sure. But I don't think Atlanta is "rebuilding" as much as trying to make a playoff run and work young as they have. Our 1st rd pick won't mean much as a regular middle-of-the-pack team. We usually have a 15th-20th pick.

I didn't necessarilly mean to value Dubinsky or Staal in the category of Anisimov or DZ, but it definitely will take a lot to grab a 19-year old forward who seems to have it all. Too much to be worth it. Draft your own talent.

I don't think Atlanta does anything other than laugh and hang up the phone at those deals.

Any package for Kane starts with Kreider and at least another 1st rounder.
