It was a big win for us. It was nice to get that first playoff win under my belt. Our line was really good. We had a couple chances there and it was just a good feeling."

Not that you’re not trying your hardest or anything throughout the regular season, but just motivationally, it’s a lot easier to get up for a playoff game. You’re so excited to play. I knew that we needed that win, and I knew I needed to take over the game and do everything I could to help us win. I just did that and it felt great. We need to do the same thing in the next game.
Very confident. We need to use this momentum. In that third period, not that they were lazy or anything but they kind of shut down and our emotions were still high and theirs weren’t. So we definitely need to carry the momentum back and take it to them in L.A."

We knew we needed a big effort against this team. We’ve got to build off this, watch the video, figure out all the things that we did right, that worked, and bring it to Game 3.
It was definitely not a lack of effort on (the Sharks’) part. They worked hard all game as well, but I got a lot of help from the 20 guys in the locker room, in front of me. There were a couple rebounds that they cleared out, clearing lanes so that I could see the puck. They made the game a lot easier for me, obviously.
We know what kind of character we have in this locker room. With a couple guys out, we’ve still got to do the same thing, even if they’re in the lineup. That’s when our team plays best, is when we play from our system, strong defensively, and then we get our chances from there. The power play had some great opportunities and scored a few big goals for us early on. It’s only one win. We’ve got a long way to go. We’re looking forward to Game 3."

"It was a very big win, coming into this building in Game 2 when we’re a little short, with key players out of the lineup. That requires a real competitive attitude by everyone that is playing. Guys have to really dig in and play hard for each other. I think that’s the competitive spirit that our team has shown many, many times over the last couple years here. They really play hard for each other. They dig in when they have to, and to me that’s probably defined as a gritty hockey club. The right guys stepped up and produced at the right time here tonight, with Doughty, Johnson and the back end. Ryan Smyth played a real big game for us here tonight. So the key guys that you need to step up played as hard as they could.
The old cliche of getting a split on the road at the start of the season, and bringing it back home, is what you talk about often. It was never more true than it was here tonight. We had to come out and show everything, pour it all in. We know there’s two days until the next game. Guys held nothing back. They did the right stuff. Hard along the boards, hard in front of the net. They really paid a price in this game to get the job done. I loved the way we cycled the puck. That was critical to our defensive part of the game. Get pucks behind them, be strong on the cycle. Lewis with Smyth and Williams, in particular, were really good. That takes time off the clock. That helps us play with confidence and get some pucks to the net in the right areas at the right time.
That’s a team. The defensemen, the six guys, did a real good job. I thought they were composed. They made some plays. They were blocking a lot of shots. They were hard and gritty in front of the crease. But overall it takes everybody. The forwards came back, they reloaded. There was a real good F3 (forward) throughout the game, I thought. They really worked hard with the defensemen in the low breakouts. Whenever Quick had the chances against, he was there for us."

NOTE : Regarding LARGE SIZE IMAGES / YELLOW RE-SIZE IMAGE BARS ABOVE PICS, let me offer up one nice little suggestion ...
This will get rid of those pesky yellow resize bars over the top of some larger pictures ... as they annoy the hell out of me and maybe they do you also ?
- Go into/click on your "USER CP" {control Panel} up top left in the Teal bars
- on the left under 'Settings & Options' click on "Edit Options"
- scroll down to 'Thread Display Options', and then 'Please Select the Resize Mode'
- click on the 'Drop Down List Box' over on the Right of 'Please Select the Resize Mode'
- select it to "KEEP ORIGINAL SIZE"
- SAVE your selections !
There ... now don't that look MUCH BETTER

I'll be in black, but my hat will be white.

Wore black Kings hat for game 1.

Wore white Kings hat for game 2.

Got it?

The atmosphere at game 3 last year was incredible. After the last game in SJ I expect it to be even more so.

Sydor25 04-18-2011 05:26 PM

MM: What type of flow are you expecting in the game tomorrow, especially in the first period?

Ryan Smyth: I'm sure they're going to try and get the fans out of it early and prevent us from doing what they did in game one, get fans into it - 28 seconds into the game they scored. So, it's important that we utilize our seventh attacker, the fans, and get the energy of the building helping push us.
Go Kings!

I was there for game 3 last season and I'll be there tomorrow! So excited. I hope it's as good a game as game 3 was last year!

JT Dutch* 04-18-2011 05:59 PM

... I'm worried about this one. If ever there was a "trap" game in a playoff series, this is it. The bad thing about winning 4-0 is that while it's a great and impressive win, it only counts as one game.

It's a lot to ask for this team to put it all together again. Game 2 was about as perfect a game as this team can play. I hope there isn't too much of a letdown tomorrow night.

Hard to say who the extra day off will favor, and it's impossible to tell from where in the World the Kings will get their offense.

I wish that was the case last season. :(

I'd kill a small animal for the Kings to win their home games. Keep that home ice advantage!

I only ask for maximum effort as I have with the first two. :) Let the results speak for themselves.

I'm thinking Justin Williams is LOVING the extra day off. Big game from him tomorrow!

BehindEnemyLines 04-18-2011 07:33 PM

This game is going to be a real tough one imo. Sharks are going to come out real strong after their last performance. I hope the boys are ready to battle and not come out thinking this series is ours...

KingsKnight 04-18-2011 07:47 PM

So excited to be going to another playoff game tomorrow. Last year was crazy and I expect it to be louder this year. I think we're going to see a more focused Sharks team tomorrow, but I think our play from the last game will carry over. I bet Stolly and Williams have big games! Go Kings!
