Don't think there was much doubting those 3 would be picked, though I have to question why Couture is still eligible after playing 40 NHL games, I don't see why Playoff games don't count, if anything, they are worth 2 or 3 regular season games!

Not a real surprise. It is a lot easier to select goal scorers than defensemen. That's kind of a strange attitude, since the common saying is that championships are won with defense, but that's just the way the system works.

ya i really cant argue with the selections lol.. the only real 1 that is ridiculous is couture.. hes played so many games already

If Fowler had continued playing the way we did in the first half, he would have at least been nominated. Too bad he had a bit of a second half slump. Oh well, I'll be pleased with a Norris in a few years.

+/- kind of killed him.

This just means no sophmore slump for Fowler

Good start for Fowler - tough year to be considered.

18 year old d-men get eaten alive in the NHL. The fact that Fowler hung around all year and contributed is a huge testament to his ability.

Lots of good rookies this year.

His second half slump, +- rating, and his competition kept him from being nominated. The three that were nominated deserve to be IMO.

All Star Skinner has this wrapped up.

Subban and Carlson were both ahead of him as far as defensemen go anyways, no surprise there.

I agree regarding Couture. He's as much of a rookie as Sbisa is, who is not eligible for the award.

I like the 3 picks.

No argument from me regarding Fowler's non-selection.

If they included Fowler, why not Stattenkirk?

Couture is a rookie by the book, so there's no way to keep him out of that final 3, but his 40 games prior is a bunch of bull if you ask me, the award goes to Skinner. MAYBE Grabner for being so fun to watch.

Yea, +/- killed him. That and he didn't really have a good 2nd half of the season, I guess the 82 game schedule wore him down but I think he should be fine next year.

Couture played way too many games. Should be ruled out IMO. Skinner and Subban are very worthy and deserving. I have those two and Grabner ahead of Cam and Cam right next to Carlsson and Shattenkirk with Marchand in there too.

Yea he had a bad second of the season, but you know whats more important? The fact that after he had a tremendous first half and seemed to be slowing down/fatigued the second half, the playoffs roll around and he just steps it up another level and is arguably our best D so far. Good signs people!

Fowler was just saving it for the playoffs. None of this regular season shenanigans.

Dude has been nails so far in this series.

There are plenty of great NHL players who never won the Calder. I am fine with the three finalists. They were all awesome in their own right.

This. We've got an awesome guy in cam and I'm fine with that. Forget the Calder. The Norris in the future is a different story!!!

Not surprised by the outcome, but glad we landed Fowler.
Great season, good kid.

It was a combination of that, the 82 game season taking it's toll, and not having a capable partner on D.

I think I had him 7th or 8th in the final Calder poll. The three nominees, Crawford, Subban, Carlson and potentially Hall although his injury obviously denied him the opportunity to finish the year.

Still a nice season from Fowler and even after he started wearing down a little he had some impressive spurts. Overall a pleasant surprise, I thought.
