Chi-Phi

To Hawks
W Kris Versteeg

To Flyers
LW Viktor Stalberg (RFA)
3rd round pick in 2011

Flyers have some need to relieve themselves of salary and Versteeg's play has been pretty bad in Philly. Flyers get a depth forward who can be signed for cheap and a 3rd in this upcoming draft. Flyers GM paid a heavy price for Steeger but his season in both Tor/Phi hurts his value and honestly with the Flyers needing to resign Leino and upgrade there goaltending (They cant possibly ignore it another year, Can they?). Steeger's salary is likely to be 1st out the door

Hawks get a guy we are familiar with who although overpaid would be a decent upgrade to our LW position in top 6 which has been weak point. I think Sharp at #2 C is best option for Hawks next year so we should look for an upgrade at LW because our options are rather limited

Steeger makes a bit over 3 mil ,, But I think if Hawks do a decent enough job of resigning Frolik/Brouwer/Crawford at affordable rates we can afford to fit in Steeger

He is inconsistant but he would be productive enough to feel comfortable with him as LW on Sharp/Hossa line

Done and Done. I will drive him over.;):handclap:

wahoowa 05-04-2011 11:56 PM

No. If Philly fans think Versteeg sucks, wait till they get a load of Viktor Stalberg.

SolidSnakeUS 05-05-2011 01:37 AM

Stalberg is a pile of crap, worse than Versteeg. No thanks.

Dr Danglefest 05-05-2011 01:57 AM

:laugh: whats the incentive to taking stalberg? the crappy 3rd rounder? not to mention hes quite the downgrade from versteeg if you can somehow look past him being a waste of cap space and ice time

Bubba88 05-05-2011 04:00 AM

'I think Philly would want Bickell. He has value and a good Cap Hit.

But then again that's not what the Hawks would want

PADevil3034 05-05-2011 05:28 AM

Both players are crap, and the 3rd round pick is crap.

No deal from either sides.

Blackhawkswincup 05-05-2011 09:17 AM

Flyers need to resign Villie Leino and get a real goalie

They need to dump salary

This deal they get a pick and a depth forward who will be cheap. THere isn't much better in Flyers system ready for NHL so Stalberg as 12th/13th forward isn't the worst thing in world for Flyers

Giroux is already resigned.

I'm open to trading Versteeg, but it certainly would take a lot more than this offer.

Thank for correcting me

Flyers are still already heavily committed $$$ for next year already with very little wiggle room

As for the offer ,, Sure it may be bad but Steeger is not gonna get Flyers a return like they paid for him.

2nd rounder and mid level prospect at best

Porn* 05-05-2011 09:31 AM

Hahaha...

leafs made out like bandits, for a change.

LEAFANFORLIFE23 05-05-2011 09:36 AM

to think we were able to turn a bunch of crap (although I did like Didememico before the injury) into Versteeg and then turn Versteeg into a 1st and 3rd and now [ep[;e want to dump him for a nothing prospect albeit he has AMAZING speed but no finish and a 3rd.

LOL thats funny

Chances of him being moved this summer are next to nil.

Yeah...Burke actually admited he F'D up bringing him in and still got a better return than he gave aquiring him. Good luck to Philly on getting better than a second rounder at best.

DisgruntledHawkFan 05-05-2011 10:22 AM

I don't even get why we'd want him. He's nothing we don't already have and he doesn't fill any pressing need for the cap space he takes up.

I loved Versteeg while he was here, but he's a puckhog second liner at best.

Theres no way Chi could afford Versteeg unless they ditch some payroll as well. even if you resign frolik brouwer crawford at 2mil each, adding versteeg and his 3mil leaves you under 2 mil to resign kopecky and at least 2 other skaters and a backup to fill out the roster unless you wanna be like Jersey was at the start of this year. Now if you can sucker someone to take campbell you be all good.

HockeySensible 05-05-2011 11:49 AM

Yeah, like Disgruntled said, I don't really see the point in bringing Steeger back, especially at his salary.

He was great when he was here, a personal favourite of mine, but he's gone and isn't needed anymore.

Crawford is worth 2M. If any of the rest of those guys holds firm at demanding 2M, any Hawks fan will be glad to see them go.

Either way you still have to replace them and unless youre gonna have garbage its gonna cost enough cash where Versteeg shouldnt really be considered.

Agreed. The Hawks could fit Versteeg if they wanted to, but I don't think they should spend most of their money on one player. Even if they did, I think there are better options than Versteeg.

Exactly, I think Chi messed up by giving Seabrook so much money, Then they would have had tons of money to address their needs.

How much would have have given the 26-year-old, top pairing, Stanley Cup winning, 40 point, Olympian?

Seabs is worth as much as he got, but he's not a guy you give a 13 year contract too, so of course, his caphit can't be lowered by a front-loaded contract.

5.8M for Seabrook is fair.

GaryU 05-05-2011 01:54 PM

Not just Seabs got too much $$ (Campbell, anyone.....................PLEASE!)...And we are familiar with Steeger, but got to see that he hasn't really grown, hockey-wise...Perhaps, we'll pass...

No way Seabs s/b making more than Keith...

Weren't you saying just last year how the Hawks would get full value for Versteeg? At the time of the trade Hawks fans seemed very happy with the return. Philly would get at least what you guys got and a couple of hit or miss prospects and someone they can add to the lineup today. Except this time that player won't be Stalberg. I'd say a Beach for Versteeg trade is about fair. I'm sure the Flyers would be happy with that return.

Well after getting full value for Byfuglien I thought we would get fair value for Steeger ,, I was wrong.

I wasn't happy witht he return
