Marvelous Manked 05-07-2011 02:15 PM

I'm obviously very excited about next year. The 67s should contend for the East, and, if the whole team doesn't get injured, will have a chance to go deep in the playoffs.

I've seen each of our first 4 picks play, and I like all of the picks. I think Kovachis and Vlajkov are 2 good additions on our blue line.

Go 67s Go!!!

hockeyalltheway 05-07-2011 06:07 PM

I didn't start watching the 67s until late last season, when the Kitchener Rangers were in town, but wow. What a great team. I'm looking forward to seeing them progress for a full season. Love that Martindale will be back, the guy's been a sparkplug.

Marvelous Manked 05-08-2011 02:19 PM

Prince-Martindale-Toffoli Obvious first line
Smith-Monahan-Foglia Good combination of offense and defence, Smith could get back to 20-20-20
Perklin-Graovac-Janes Graovac skilled, with some big physical bodies
Giftopoulos-Salerno-Fontana super small line

Ceci-Zanetti
Fielding-Sedlak
Shipley-Luciani

Mrazek
Campbell

Extras: Gustavsen, Vlajkov

Is Martindale coming back 100 percent?

Sedlak - I cant see the 67's keeping Sedlak as both an OA and a Euro. You could get a bigger impact by bringing in two seperate players in my opinion.

Salerno will need some convincing, he is very, very interested in the NCAA.

Valid points, for sure.

I don't see why Martindale wouldn't come back, I have a hard time seeing him making the Oilers, and in my opinion wouldn't stick him in Oklahoma City. But that's just me.

Completely valid point about Sedlak, I was debating whether or not to keep him in or out of the line up, but it will be interesting. I wasn't overly impressed with Shipley and Fielding, but they were 16 year olds.

I honestly wasn't aware of the Salerno situation. You have to wonder if this means that Graovac is expendable, especially since he has fallen below Monahan in the depth charts. I would like to try him on left wing on the second line, as the skill he showed at the beginning of the season was pretty awesome, until he was injured.

If Martindale did leave, that would be an obvious blow BUT I think that Center is what the 67s are frontloaded with in terms of ability.

*I'm not sure about Smith on RW, but that line would be pretty massive if he could play. All 3 of those players have a good offensive element as well.

Janes is a left winger, not a right. Good analysis though.

I think Martindale coming back is a big 'IF'. He is a pretty high draft pick so they would give him an opportunity in the AHL. Also I think that you might see Janes or Smith on the top line. We learned from the playoffs that Toffoli and Prince need someone to better protect them.

Its good to see the team draft some bigger guys. It would be nice to see a 67's team again, that other teams don't like playing against.

As for Sedlak returning as an OA and Import.

1) He's a veteran guy to help out the youg defence.
2) He's a friend of Mzarek and may help keeping Petr balanced.
3) The import pick might be worth more in a [trade + keeping Sedlak], than the [player we might pick - Sedlak].

Also you are missing Cardwell on defence (19 yo). He would be top 4.

I like Salerno but can he play in the O as a 16 year old who is only 5'5"?

Oh, the OHL Website has him as a Right Winger. I don't know why I forgot Cardwell either, I was wondering why our defence looked so depleted.

The reason I have Salerno on the team (Ottawafan66) is because I thought that the rule was your top 3 players had to play on your team as a 16 year old.

It turns out, it's actually your top 2 players. I don't really want to waste an overager on Dubois, isn't the max amount of overagers 3? That all changes however if Martindale plays in Oklahoma City.

You have to sign and card your top two players, or at least make attempts too. You dont necessaraly have to roster them. You can put your second taken player on a B card. That said, normally those are top players, so you want them playing more then 10 games a year.

You can have 5 Over agers to start the year on your roster. In Novemer in needs to be reduced to 4, and by the trade deadline it needs to be 3. You can only dress three at anytime.

Marvelous Manked 05-09-2011 10:32 PM

Thanks. That's good to know.

Marvelous Manked 05-13-2011 10:40 PM

In this article, it seems as though Martindale will head to Oklahoma City:

http://www.ottawacitizen.com/sports/...141/story.html

It's near the end.

44 95 plus tax 05-16-2011 08:12 PM

I just read an article that said Ottawa is having a rookie camp on June 4th. Does anyone know if this is open to the public?

Marvelous Manked 05-27-2011 02:06 PM

It would surprise me if you couldn't go watch.

JSavoire 05-29-2011 05:18 PM

16 year olds

Team drafted 3 big 16 year olds early on so I'm assuming the club wants to sign them first year. Also, does Fontana get a sniff on the 2nd line this year?

It would surprise me if you couldn't go watch.

From an e-mail I received from the Ottawa 67's:

It will be at the Ottawa U Rink, and it will be open to the public.

Saturday June 4 6:00 to 8:00 Game (I assume this is PM)

Sunday June 5 9:30 to 11:30 Game

In this article, it seems as though Martindale will head to Oklahoma City:

It's near the end.

I was just checking on CAPGEEK.com and I don't see that Martindale has signed with Edmonton. I know that they may not have all the prospects that have signed on the list, however, LA's list shows Toffolli as having been signed, and Edmonton's list shows a lot of Enty Level signings. I can't see him playing for Oklahoma City if he is not signed. He just might be back, you never know.

Martindale coming back would definitely help for sure.

Monahan is my favourite player, and could probably be a #1 Centre as a 17 year old, but I'm glad he can still sit in the shadows of Martindale. I am in full favour of Graovac switching to the wing, as he is fallen behind Monahan in the depth chart, and is too flashy for a 3rd line center.

Tiger, when does the schedule come out?
