The now former #NYR Alexander Frolov signed a 3 year contract with #KHL's Avangard Omsk.

Bah-bye Frolawl.

WhipNash27 05-12-2011 09:09 AM

I doubt Sather was bringing him back anyway. Although it's good to see that now it won't even be a possibility.

Trxjw 05-12-2011 09:09 AM

No surprises there. He was done in the NHL.

Chimp 05-12-2011 09:10 AM

Yeah, I can't see anyone being sad over this. Frolov was a total non-factor and I think Frolov also knew he wouldn't be re-signed.

I always liked Frolov as a player for the Kings. I had hoped he could bring us some good secondary scoring this year, but it wasn't to be I suppose. Eh, too bad.

94now 05-12-2011 09:13 AM

Well, they probabaly say " If Sather thought it would be a good replacement for Jagr, it must be so..." ;)

So did I.

But it's just our luck... Decent players magically turn into crap over the summer before they actually get here.

McNashty 05-12-2011 09:25 AM

Oh well. Not going to ruin Drury's weekend.

BlueshirtBlitz 05-12-2011 09:34 AM

Had decent hopes for Frolov, it just wasn't meant to be. Wasn't a problem when he was here at all, just couldn't score. Expected him to sign in Russia. Best of luck and thanks for the wraparound trophy, Fro.

Can we trade Drury to Russia?

Panfork 05-12-2011 09:46 AM

Later Brolov, catch you on the wraparound.

I mean flipside.

I lolirled. :)

Anyway, if I see another thread on the main board comparing the NHL and the KHL, I'll send the OP the bill from my cardiologist.

Frolov played for the rangers?

Good riddans ya bum!

Just Lurking 05-12-2011 10:13 AM

Not really an issue, because I doubt the Rangers planned to sign him. But, I'm curious how Frolov can sign a contract with the KHL when technically, he isn't a free agent until July 1. I believe there is an agreement between the NHL and KHL that they will respect each other's contracts.

Did the Rangers give Frolov permission to negotiate with the KHL? Otherwise, this seems like some king of tampering by Avangard Omsk...

As compensations to the Rangers, I think they should have to take Drury and Redden, too.

Jagr to Frolov , he spins, around the net, tries the wrap-around....

Frolov's going to flourish in Russia. He has all that room to skate in, make himself open... and get to the back of the net to try to stuff it on the other side.

Seems to be the common trend with thse "supposed" high end players that come to NY. Really getting sick of it to be honest.

And not surprised to see Frolov signing overseas. Best of luck to him there. Hopefully he will succeed over there.

McDonagh 05-12-2011 10:29 AM

Frolov's stint with the Rangers ruined my view on him. He was a great player for the Kings, now when I think of him... ugh.

joking aside, i'm sure the Rangers gave their blessing, he had 0% chance of even getting an offer here.

Fleury4ever 05-12-2011 10:44 AM

Did anyone see that feature where Frolov and Boogaard spent a day with a bunch of preschoolers at Build-a-Bear?

That's all I think about when I hear about them at this point. It was so awkward and unintentionally hilarious, weirdest pair of guys to have kids hang around with.

n1cON 05-12-2011 10:51 AM

Bye bye Frologgins ;)

SomE 05-12-2011 11:06 AM

Frolov didn't play bad as a Ranger. I thought he fit into the system very well, he just couldn't produce.

Same thoughts. The guy tried, and did absolutely every thing he could..... except he couldn't score. Which unfortunately is what he was brought here to do.

Fulcrum 05-12-2011 11:28 AM

397 points in 579 in NHL reg season. 4 points in 6 Playoff games.

Definately not going to hurt KHL, he is 28 and has a lot of good years ahead of him.
