Kings Hockeydb Draft Page

Q: When is the earliest the Kings CHL prospects are eligible to play a full season in Manchester?
A: Providing he has a pro contract:
2011-12: Deslauriers, Berube, Vey, Kitsyn**, Czarnik*, Schumacher
2012-13: Toffoli, Weal, Gibson
2013-14: Roach
*Was eligible in 2008-09, 2009-10, and 2010-11 seasons.
**Was eligible in 2010-11 season.

They can join Manchester for the rest of Manchester's season after their respective junior seasons are over, providing they have a pro contract or an ATO.

Here's an explanation of the AHL age requirements.

Since this question seems to come up over and over again:

There is a private agreement in place between the NHL and the CHL that governs when a player coming from the CHL can play in the AHL. A player from the CHL has to either turn 20 by December 31st of the season (ie a player born in 1987 can start playing in the 2007-08 season, a player born in 1988 can start playing in the 2008-09 season etc.) OR have completed 4 seasons of junior eligibility. This agreement also covers European players if they are drafted out of the CHL (Examples would be players like Petr Vrana and Ivan Vishnevskiy). Also - CHL players are eligible to play in the AHL once their junior season is over (either by virtue of their junior team not making the playoffs or being eliminated from the playoffs) even if they don't yet meet the age or eligibility criteria listed above.

College players and European players (provided they are drafted out of Europe--even if they later play in the CHL) are not covered by this agreement. They only have to abide by the AHL's age requirement, which is that a player has to turn 18 by September 15 of any given season to be eligible to play. While you won't see many 18-year olds in the AHL, some European players have played at that age (e.g. Niklas Bergfors)

Q: Which Kings prospects played at the 2011 WJC?
A: Schenn (Canada), Forbort (USA), and Kitsyn (Russia) played at the WJC (Clifford was with the Kings, and Deslauriers was out with an injury). Vey, Toffoli, and Berube participated in the August Canadian evaluation camp, along with Schenn, Clifford, and Deslauriers. Vey also was invited to the December selection camp but was cut at the camp.

Manchester is gonna be LOADED next year.

It has become silly how ridiculously talented and deep we are on D down on the farm.

Nik D will be twice the player that Forbort will imo and I think that DF is going to be solid and that is based on more than just skill. I love Derek as a kid and he is simply a 100% good honest hard working person and he will be a 2nd pairing D man in the NHL in a few years (I see it as 3/4) but Nik D is going to rocket onto the team within the next season or two and be a fan favorite when he gets here.

imo.

Just thinking about Manchester next season:

Forwards:
Holloway
Vey
Schenn/Loki
Kozun
King
Azevedo
(I know i'm forgetting a few)

D-Men:
Deslauriers
2 or 3 of Muzzin, Hickey, Voynov, Martinez

Goaltenders:
Zatkoff
Jones

Wow!

Wow!

Not sure why Martinez would be in Manchester next year. Voynov or Martinez will be moved I bet.

etherialone 05-24-2011 10:40 PM

Davis D is a goner making room for one of the kids to step up and take the 7 spot. A Mart will keep his spot imo. Now will we move VV or JM? I guess it is possible but who knows.

Voynov would almost certainly bring the biggest return among any of the D. So my vote would be to move him.

I'm not sure I like the idea of one of the young guys being the #7D. But TG, you know a hell of a lot more than me. Both about the organization, and the game in-general.

etherialone 05-24-2011 11:44 PM

Thanks but not as much as you'd think.

The game is changing so fast it is getting hard for a guy like me to keep up. The only real reason that I see VV as our 7th next season is because he is close enough to ready that if he has a great camp we won't be able t really keep him off the team any longer. Now if Muzz comes in and blows the doors off his competition which is really really possible then I could see VV dealt and Muzz put in as a 7th.

We kept Davis D there so I have to think that we would start the season with a kid there and make changes if needs be.

Oh and by the way you've got a good hockey head on your own shoulders too, (hope that sounds like a compliment).

:)

Any word on Nicolas Deslauriers, deadline to sign him is getting close?

Sydor25 05-27-2011 11:03 PM

Kitsyn playing for the Memorial Cup on Sunday. :handclap:

He could end up with a gold medal and Memorial Cup in the same season. :thumbu:

Sybil227 05-28-2011 02:30 AM

Kitsyn was +1 with 4 PIM and no points.

# QMJHL: Nicolas Deslauriers: 3 year contract with the Los Angeles Kings. It has also operated in the meniscus of his right knee.

Google Translate, its not that difficult. Also confirmed by the assistant gm of Gatineau

From the man himself.

"This is my dream, my wish and I am a champion for the Kings".

How far away do you feel you are from the NHL?

"They will tell me".

Time to go out and buy your Des jersey now for those who buy jersey's because if you love Cliffy and I can't see why you wouldn't then you are going to go ape poop banana's over Des. He is the real deal in every aspect of the game and at the same time a throw back character player too.

We may not hit it out of the park with everyone we pick up but this kid is as good as it gets.

What are the chances that he makes the Kings this year & doesn't go back to Russia?

etherialone 05-29-2011 05:15 PM

I don't see Max making the team this year and it is about 30/70 that he will go back to the KHL but if you talk to him there isn't any doubt that he is going to play in the NHL and that he wants to be on the Kings. I obviously hold this kid in high regard and think that he is a keeper. Give him one more year of development and we will have a great power forward in the fold.

Thankyou, I do know how to translate languages via internet. I had little doubt Tonnell was speaking the truth about Deslauriers signing nearly a week ago. Though it is nice to have another confirmation. My humour sometimes lacks the funny ;)
