November 18th, two bundles. One comes with 8GB Flash Memory, a GamePad and the system for $299, and the other comes with Nintendo Land, 32GB flash memory and some kind of digital service for $349.

More to come.

That is all.

Terrible.

Hunter Gathers 06-07-2011 04:33 PM

It will sell like hotcakes.

BeBen* 06-07-2011 04:33 PM

It's probably gonna be like the last 2 Nintendo consoles

I'm only gonna buy it to be able to play the latest Mario/Zelda game then never touch it again

SK13 06-07-2011 04:34 PM

Nasty gut reactions, all.

Have yet to find a single developer (and this includes Mark Rein of Epic, who's taken his fair share of potshots at Nintendo) that doesn't like this thing.

karnige 06-07-2011 04:36 PM

bash it people but it'll sell millions and shut everyone up

That's not really the point.

Nintendo designed this thing to close the gap between casual gimmickry and core gaming experiences, and in the short term it looks like they've succeeded in winning over developers. All the major publishers (save Activision, who's a no-show so far excepting Modern Warfare 3) are on board with major franchises.

I guess it doesn't really matter that HFBoards thinks... but I think Nintendo's made some progress moving back to the core space.

MayDay 06-07-2011 04:45 PM

I predict they'll sell millions of them, and 3-5 years later Sony and MS will both come out with their own touchscreen controllers.

Bruins4Lifer 06-07-2011 04:47 PM

How much will the controllers cost?

Big McLargehuge 06-07-2011 04:49 PM

Good to see the third parties are interested...everything about it seems stupid to me so far, but that's what Nintendo does best.

It'll sell absurdly well, that's for damn sure.

DrFeelgood 06-07-2011 04:51 PM

That controller is an abomination

HawksFan74 06-07-2011 04:55 PM

This does not have the unique qualities as when Wii initially launched. This will sink Nintendo without huge 3rd party involvement and games that attract the mainstream gamer. I don't see that happening. Wii was successful because it was simple and attracted the casual gamer, example my parents. This will not seem simple to them and not worth the cost.

Current Nintendo Wii owners use their consoles a ton less than Xbox or Sony. I think they will really suffer because they do not have the additional revenue after the console sells.

By the way, Dreamcast had this first. Just a bit smaller on the controller. ..

I already mentioned the DC. The guys that are super duper excited for this thing don't seem to want to talk about that though.

People STILL haven't shut up about the Wii.

Just saying.

Nintendo is a smart company and I remain optimistic they can make this work.

I don't own Nintendo stock, so I don't care if it sells one or one hundred million.

Oh yeah, it's obvious how much you don't care.

You don't care so much that you can't stop posting about what a failure it will be. You had the first reply in this thread, which really shows how much you don't care at all.

:sarcasm:

Being an employee of the company that is putting this out, i can honestly say you wont believe it until you actually play it.

You can go from single player games on one big screen, or have a friend jump in seamlessly onto a second controller, and put the map, etc, on the big screen, and you each play from your own controller screen, or you can split screen.

The only issue i had when i held one, is battery life might be a problem, but was informed they are working on making sure it has 15-20 hours per full charge, but can also be played while plugged in.

The graphics on the controller screen are beautiful, and is a perfect size so it doesn't hurt your hands and in fact is exceedingly comfortable, much like the Snes controllers.. From the mock tester i had my hands on, they did take advice that was going around on moving the buttons closer upwards, but didn't center the bottom buttons which was a huge thing i had a problem with personally. I do expect one more change to curve the tops much like the Snes controller was to make the buttons easier.

The graphic potential and cost of these is actually around the ps3 price point, but i have not heard on individual costs for controllers, and what accessory's there are. or, what is back-wards compatible from the wii's line up. i wouldn't expect extra controllers to go past the 99$ price point though.

The time my office had with is was only in the 2-4 hour range, but i am beyond excited for it, the potential is just unmatched on what they can do with it. And from first hand experiance, i think they will go above and beyond

sounds like you hate it without even giving it a chance. wait till we see the final product and games.

kingsholygrail 06-07-2011 06:12 PM

I don't want to have to look down, then back up, then down, then back up. Wtf is this?

for call of duty and so forth you won't have to. just for the fun family games they are designing it for it seems like. the zelda game it looked like the controller was inventory.

It's an always visable pause screen so to speak. But you can also seamlessly switch from the picture on the screen, and sent it to the controller, and the controllers image to the TV, incase you have to go make a sammich while watching a cutscene or something. Or as i said before.

I definitely like that idea. as I said before I won't be judging it fully till it's released.

MetalheadPenguinsFan 06-07-2011 06:20 PM

God that looks bulky and clunky.

Zodiac 06-07-2011 06:21 PM

i might buy one someday if it ends up hacked like the wii. :naughty:

i have my doubts about this system attracting the 'hardcore' gamers. without them, the 3rd party development will tank like it did on the wii.
