2 weeks until the draft, let's keep this one on topic :)

Just to leave my imprint...Scheifele, please...thanks again, and tip your waitress.

broadwayblue 06-11-2011 11:24 AM

What do you guys think about Zach Phillips? He seems to be rated near #15.

Superior vision, competes hard/gritty extremely talented and high hockey IQ.

BBKers 06-11-2011 11:26 AM

I said this before - we should try to trade our #15 for #25 + #29/#30 to Toronto

Basically gives us 3 1st rounders this year (Erixon would have gone top 12 imo).
Which is very good imo...
Then -
Choose Khochlachev at #25 (if still available) and go for another homerunner at #29/#30
Maybe one of Vladislav Namestnikov, Joel Armia, Tomas Jurco, Victor Rask, Matt Puempel, Zack Phillips or even the midget but supertalented Rocco Grimaldi. BPA
Easy...
Gives us some theoretical topline potential to talk about here for years to come......

White Plains Batman 06-11-2011 05:08 PM

Maybe Leslie can answer this, but who have the Rangers even brought in for interviews?

My pick is McNeil or Scheifele or trade down to the 20s, go for Namenstenkov and get a 2nd rounder to use on either Matthew Nieto or Shane Prince.

TrollololBoyle 06-11-2011 05:47 PM

Vladislav Namestnikov

Jersey Shore? Tennis? Superman?

What a loser. I wouldn't take him with our 7th, let alone our 1st. Batman or GTFO.

MrAlmost 06-11-2011 05:51 PM

Namestnikov (sp?) is my personal favorite, but again the chances of a Russian being taken by this team are slim to none if what we have done recently is any indicator............................but alas a boy can dream.

Scooby-Doo or GTFO lol.

Landeskog's favorite band is The Fray :snide:

its an interesting idea but the big question is how many guys in the draft will you be happy with? most people are looking at guys like zibanejad, schiefele, mcneil, armia, etc as guys that might be available at 15 but could be gone. and certainly won't be around at 25.

i like the idea of getting an extra 1st but i'm worry we'll miss out on the guy we want at 15 as it is...probably a decision i'd have to make on draft day as the 1st round unfolds. if that first group is disappearing before our pick and we aren't getting them anyway then i'd be much more interested in moving down.

Excellent vision and one of the best passers in the draft. But man, that skating is so ugly. One thing Sather likes is a good skater, so not sure this guy will even be on the radar. Ironically Sather himself was not a very good Skater:p:

Hey Mr., gotta ask cause I've always been curious - why the need for "(sp?)" when you could have taken that time to google his name and spell it correctly?

The favorite band thing I hardly read, they always like the worst flavor of the month bands. I guess we have to just be happy they're not saying Justin Biber;)

Definitely!

Everyone is focusing on a few player whose names they keep repeating, but there are many good players around. The Rangers can draft two players who are high-risk, high-reward with 25+29 whose odds of being top-6 forwards will be better than a single player ranked #15.

I would like someone who likes Glee and tapdancing. Can we get another prospect like that?

Haha, I was at work and in a rush......and I hate when I spell a players name wrong. Oddly enough, however, I'm not very good at spelling I just like getting things right when talking about somone specific.

White Plains Batman 06-12-2011 09:38 AM

LOL....these poor young kids listen to such bad music (except Nigel Dawes who was a big Chili Peppers fan as his profile said on the Jumbotron) and watch such bad TV shows but as long as they put the puck in the net and are decent human beings, I could care less if they watch Jersey Shore and listen to crap.

And Namestnikov isn't a traditional Russian; he's pretty integrated with no KHL commitments.

I don't know much about this player.

So naturally i have to youtube it and do some research.

Looks good.

Probably no more of a project then anyone else outside the top 10.

HatTrick Swayze 06-12-2011 12:10 PM

Phillips in one of the few players that I would be truly pissed about drafting. Skating will be a HUGE hurdle he has to overcome to make the show and he was playing with some damn good players consistently (Huberdeau, Beaulieu) as well. We can do better.

Perhaps he did have some good talent to play with. But it looks like he does have some solid hands. Hard to see how bad his skating really is from that highlight reel.

Just my opinion, and his hands and passing ability are impressive.

Have to comment since I think there are very few posters here who ever saw Sather play and yeah his skating was kind of mediocre. A bit of a pest--a little bit like Avery--though not as good a skater or player--keeping in mind it was a 12--14 team league when he played for us. For his size he was a tough little bugger but definitely 4th line material.

In any case I'm hoping for either for McNeill or Schiefele--edge to McNeill. In the mock draft I did today--Colorado takes Bartschi at 11--seeing him as a complementary player for either Duchene, Stastny and Carolina goes for Khokhlachev hoping he might be this year's Skinner or at least Burmistrov--so both McNeill and Schiefele are around at 15 when the Rangers pick. After first taking Schiefele--on second thought I take McNeill--just that extra grit.
