Blucher 06-23-2011 05:05 PM

awesome!

Blucher 06-23-2011 05:11 PM

double

Bubba88 06-23-2011 05:52 PM

great news

brtriad 06-23-2011 05:52 PM

With all these contracts being moved, the likelyhood Campbell is moved in the next few years increases ten fold.

Bubba88 06-23-2011 06:02 PM

if we want to trade him... which I doubt.

We have enough CapSpace now, our core is signed longterm with good contracts (Cap Hits) and we won't find a better player than Campbell.

No Fun Shogun 06-23-2011 06:03 PM

Excellent.

Just imagine if that type of number wasn't on the books though...

who replaces him?
what do you think this player would get?

Right now, I want to win. And we are better with Campbell than without him

BBSeabs27 06-24-2011 09:49 AM

Booom! :)

This. I could see the reasons for trading him when we were pressed up against the ceiling and had to maneuver. Now, just wanting space for the sake of cap space? Eh, you're not going to do much better than Campbell with that space, might as well keep on winning.

What if we could ship out Campbell and bring back the Wiz?

Bubba88 06-24-2011 10:17 AM

Wiz would need overpayment.
Campbell is better

I would like him back

Campbell is better, Wiz had a great year no doubt but he's not the same player. I know most will counter it with "yeah, but Wiz will be cheaper" etc, but IMO with the cap going up Wiz will get 5.5+. So you'd be saving less than 2 mil in space. Just too much maneuvering to not really upgrade.

Yup, you just summed up why keeping Campbell is better than trying to replace him with Wiz.

Wiz is younger and brings a physical game that would help us greatly

1.5/2M saved and still fielding a strong top 4 of Seabrook/Keith/Wiz/Hammer = Good

madgoat33 06-24-2011 11:06 AM

1.5-2 million is no small peanuts. That could be the difference in signing a legit center and keeping sharp and only being able to do 1 of them.

That is how I feel. He rounds out of our defense and team much better than Campbell does. It kills 2 birds with one stone so to speak.

I don't mind Campbell and I do think he brings something to the table. That is why I said number, and not player. Just wish his contract was for 2 million less; that would give the team a lot more flexibility. Alas, it is crying over spilled milk at this point though.

BRayne 06-24-2011 11:10 AM

Sharp extension is apparently in the works

digdug41982 06-24-2011 11:10 AM

I like Wiz but Campbell is better. Trade Campoli and sign Jovo or another physical D-man.
