WOW are you kidding me!?

Hensch 06-23-2011 03:38 PM

I'm now even more confident with the Rangers current roster, they are playoff bound even before the RFA's are signed and which ever UFA's come in...

**SHOCKED** and laughing, my die hard flyers fan (and line mate) is speechless!

PawelW007 06-23-2011 03:40 PM

What the.....?

I mean, wow

Pizza 06-23-2011 03:41 PM

I think the Boards just exploded, LOL.

NYR27 06-23-2011 03:42 PM

Makes me wonder what they are saving up for besides bryz...even losing Richards, they so won that trade with la

ColonialsHockey10 06-23-2011 03:42 PM

Now I hope everyone understands how me and Levitate thought Brayden Schenn was overrated. Shows you have lowly both the Flyers and Kings valued him, the Flyers especially, who got an additional young, potential top 6 player and a 2nd.

Bird Law 06-23-2011 03:44 PM

Awesome birthday gift :)

Flyers are after Brad Richards, mark my words.

ribbet 06-23-2011 03:49 PM

Philly just signed Bryzgalov as well - 9yrs, $51 Million. $5.3M Cap hit.

No link yet.

SERE 24 06-23-2011 03:49 PM

I love Voracek. Kinda bummed he's a Flyer now... means I won't be able to root for him anymore.

Liked Wayne Simmonds too, and I think Brayden Schenn is going to be good. They get the #8 overall as well, and a couple of 2nd/3rd rounders.

But holy hell. Who saw that coming? Carter being moved was rumored and believable, but BOTH?

Meanwhile, I like this as a Rangers fan, as long as Philly doesn't now swoop in and land Brad Richards. Still, given a year or two, the Flyers will look very good with JVR, Giroux, Schenn, Voracek, and whoever they draft at #8. This gives them room to sign Bryzgalov now, and rumor is they're not done dealing yet.

Ih8theislanders 06-23-2011 03:56 PM

rofl flyers rofl

The Columbus trade is good for both teams. Don't know what they're thinking with the LA deal.

What gift? This is still a very talented Flyers team and I'm sure there's a plan...as if they would actually lay down just for us.

This.

capgeek already updated everything. the flyers will have like 7.5m to resign minimum 3-4 players. no chance they fit in richards.

The Flyers, after these deals, have $7.5 million in available cap space, and still have to sign Simmonds, Voracek and Leino. Holmgren's got a lot more work to do to fit Richards in, too.

NikC 06-23-2011 04:05 PM

Flyers aren't going after richards, that's ridiculous.

they just signed Bryzgalov 9yrs 51m lol. that's a long time.
he's good, but i don't think he's a top goalie...

Tanner Glass 06-23-2011 04:06 PM

Not a good move by Philly. They gain nothing, but cap space. They got rid of two of their top players, and got .... nothing ??? Plus, this means less Dubie fights (Hopefully one at the start of the season though!) It helped us though, as the Flyers kind of screwed themselves.

has capgeek updated the cap number yet? it still may be using last years cap number.

Well I guess the conversation will shift from the sticky'd NHL thread to here... I said in that thread, I don't understand the timing. Richards & Carter were experienced NHL players ready to compete now. They traded them away so they could sign a legit #1 goaltender, and traded them for younger and more inexperienced players. In the case of Brayden Schenn, he only has 8 games NHL experience. This bolsters their depth in net, but weakens their depth up front for the immediate future. I wonder if by the time these younger players are more experienced and really ready to step up and contribute in a significant manner, if the rest of their roster will experience more turnover. Pronger isn't getting any younger, and had multiple injuries last season. Timonen with just 2 years remaining on his contract. Coburn & Carle are both UFA's next summer. They may find themselves trying to address their depth on defense a couple years out.

I don't see them as being a threat with a younger team up front. I would give the nod to the Bruins, Lightning, or a healthy Penguins roster over how Philly's depth is shaping up.

Pizza 06-23-2011 04:14 PM

It's on BIG TIME.

The guy who has to be smiling right now is Richards. I'm thinking there would be a pretty serious bidding war shaping up.

Always liked Simmonds as a player. Very much the kind of player I think Biggs will be. Nothing flashy, but big, powerful, drive the net and hits hard. A pain to play against.

You gotta hand it to 'em. The Fleas have no trouble pulling the trigger and reshaping their entire team.

Things could get pretty wild in the next 24 hours.

I am thinking the same. They traded two great players. This years draft is supposed to be weak anyway.

SwedishBullet62 06-23-2011 04:15 PM

So now the flyers can stop pucks, but not win face-offs:dunno: I wish the worst upon this team dismantlement
