Vinny Lecavalier

Would you take on his contract of he was indeed on the trading block?

Only if Gomez was going the other way. With the cap going up the last couple years his contract isn't as bad.

Blind Gardien 06-24-2011 03:32 PM

No. Not even for Gomez. Fine player, but if we haven't already learned about these contracts, well, shame on us.

Quarantesix 06-24-2011 03:33 PM

I would do it if Gomez is involve. Cap will continue to go up for a long time.

and it will funny to see the town go nuts

JHabs 06-24-2011 03:33 PM

Apparently he is on the block, and ONLY if Gomez is going back, theres no other way we take it on, its just not possible

Richiebottles 06-24-2011 03:35 PM

It may happen.

Ford Prefect 06-24-2011 03:35 PM

Please. Make it stop.

Halak, Ryder and 2nd.

CrAzYNiNe 06-24-2011 03:36 PM

Would prefer him to Gomez, but 3 years of Gomez to 10 years of Vinny... :help:

ThaDevilGirl 06-24-2011 03:36 PM

Not a good idea.

windycity 06-24-2011 03:39 PM

Noooooooooooooo

I would take the 3 years with Vinny and have a much better chances of winning the cup even if it mean 7 more year of Vinny.

and everything can happen so Lecavalier could be trade in 5 years.

windycity 06-24-2011 03:40 PM

Nooooooooooooooo

Coldplay 06-24-2011 03:40 PM

**** no. I'd take Gomez any day of the week before even thinking of touching Vinny's asinine deal.

ClasslessGuy 06-24-2011 03:40 PM

If we didn't have Gomez I would think about it.

superstar player contract for a not superstar player.

SnapVirus 06-24-2011 03:43 PM

Honestly? I think Pacioretty and Gionta would be fire with Lecavalier.

Is it possible or realist? Nop.

Andrighetto Fabolous 06-24-2011 03:43 PM

Only way I'd consider taking him would be Gomez + Spacek for Lecavalier

Ozymandias 06-24-2011 03:47 PM

Vinny simply doesn't have the gonads to play here

Thank you, we have a winner! An awful deal he has...worse than Gomez...at least there is light at the end of the tunnel with Gomez...not so with VL...

MathMan 06-24-2011 03:51 PM

Can't have an offseason without a Vinny-to-Montreal thread. ;)

Gainey#1* 06-24-2011 03:51 PM

Absolutely.

Lecavalier for Gomez +Spacek

They get Spacek off the books in only 1 year, and have 3 years of Gomez for 10 years of Vinny.

Deal works for both teams.

Only way I take on that contract is if they take those two off my hands

Overpayment?
Maybe but with a new CBA coming our way, and they length of vinny's contract - they gotta overpay

RE-HABS 06-24-2011 03:54 PM

If you think the Gomez deal is bad, well don't even consider this one please!

I hate Gomez a lot, and I kinda like Vinny even though he is not the same guy he used to be. But yeah 3 years vs 10 years is a tough pill to swallow. Especially since gomez's contract becomes palatable next year while Lecavalier is kind of a married for life no divorce type of thing.

Would have to say no to that and keep Gomez even though it hurts in the short term.

They are wanting to make a deal to clear cap space to sign Stamkos...so taking the same money back doesn't help, and we still get stuck with the worse contract and deal length.
