Hearing #Blackhawks winger Troy Brouwer will be dealt to the Washington Capitals for a draft pick.

I called it!

dashtary* 06-24-2011 08:20 PM

EDIT: I called that he'd be a good pick-up. :)

EroCaps 06-24-2011 08:21 PM

How is this confirmed?

dashtary* 06-24-2011 08:22 PM

For #26 Overall.

They must have really, really hated this draft.

HTFN 06-24-2011 08:25 PM

That had better not be it, because if they drop out of the first three rounds just to come away with ****ing Brouwer then I'm going to be disappointed.

EroCaps 06-24-2011 08:25 PM

Bye Brooks.

They'd rather trade 1sts for RFAs than pay for you.

IafrateOvie34 06-24-2011 08:26 PM

So much for a chance at Klefbom. I don't like this trade. I will give Brouwer some respect though, he played well during their cup season and playoffs.

mrwarden 06-24-2011 08:26 PM

Here's hoping he's a Jason Chimera replacement instead...or even Bradley

Capitlols 06-24-2011 08:27 PM

My goodness in what world is a RFA of Brouwer's caliber worth a 1st round pick.

brs03 06-24-2011 08:27 PM

Maybe we'll get lucky and this is bye-bye Fehr rather than Brooks.

I know, hugely unlikely but a guy can dream, no?

dashtary* 06-24-2011 08:27 PM

Speculation: He's a RW, can play on the 2nd line. So do you guys think he's getting picked up and replace Semin as the "speculation" that I brought up earlier?

Devil Dancer 06-24-2011 08:28 PM

Seems like pretty crappy value to me.

Steve Passless* 06-24-2011 08:28 PM

Brouwer is a pretty good player. Good physical presence to shore up a line that might have lots of skill but not enough size. Pleasantly surprised with what we got back, I must admit.

Yeah, we'll see.

mrwarden 06-24-2011 08:31 PM

Other than the C flexibility Laich brings, Brouwer's probably not a significant downgrade at a significant discount...

Maryland17 06-24-2011 08:32 PM

So how much will we have to sign him for or would one think Chicago inked him right before the trade, etc?

caps4cup 06-24-2011 08:33 PM

IMO GMGM is gonna make some more moves because you don't trade a first for Brouwer unless you're making more moves to win now

um 06-24-2011 08:33 PM

WTF! he wasnt even gonna resign

EroCaps 06-24-2011 08:35 PM

This has all the odor of great cap management and clueless team building.

SkinsFan09 06-24-2011 08:35 PM

I hope this isn't the only move.

Brouwer's numbers, particularly two years ago, are inflated playing with Toews and Kane. He's really a 3rd liner.

I'm at a loss for words. I thought GMGM values 1sts.

What exactly do you think Laich's numbers are? A product of his offensive creativity?
