Stolen info from Marc the Habs fan:

46. Daniel Pribyl, LW/C Sparta Praha Jr. (CZE- Jr.)- Red Line Report gets credit for being on Pribyl's bandwagon for some time, but Central is onto something with the big and skilled forward. At 6-3, 190 he's lean and needs to get stronger, but has some interesting potential and upside. The December '92 birthdate scored 25 goals and 54 points in just 39 games with his junior club and even got some time with his senior team in the Exraliga, so his development is on the right track. He's a long-strider but isn't a dynamic skater and could stand to pick up an extra step. However, his creativity is high-end, and he has nice hands to set up plays along with a quick, accurate shot to make him a dual threat as a finisher and set-up man. This is one player who wouldn't surprise us in the least to see go off the board early as a bit of a surprise pick because of his strong blend of tools and intangibles. He's a hard worker, and we'd love to see him come over and play in the CHL next season.

Daniel Pribyl, LW Sparta Prahia (CZE)- Beanpole (6-3, 190) winger is developing into a player worth keeping an eye on. With 25 goals and 54 points in 39 games with Sparta's top junior team this season, he saw a little bit of time with the Extraliga club. He's got a long stride even if he lacks explosive speed, has soft hands and the offensive instincts to cash in. He's got a lot to learn about the game and his defense is suspect at this point, but in time, after he gets stronger on his skates and gains more experience at a high level, Pribyl has some potential to compete for an NHL spot. Red Line Report has been all over Pribyl since December, and if he pans out, it will be another feather in the cap for their Eastern European scout.

Then there is the revelation of this season, tall and lanky scoring winger Daniel Pribyl. Has quick and soft hands, beats D regularly 1 on 1 with nifty moves and dekes off the rush and creates separation in tight with strong puck control and finesse stick skills. Smart and quick release of wrist shot. Not developed physically yet and doesn´t use his size enough, okay in puck pursuit and not afraid to play in traffic but rarely finishes checks and doesn´t win many battles for puck. Next, undersized winger Tomas Hyka who is smart, skilled, instinctive but physically very weak, and doesn´t like to take hit/avoids contact at times. Soft touch on his passes, quick soft hands, slick with puck, anticipates very well. Very good wheels, quick burst of speed and first steps, agile. Smooth handling the puck in top speed, has vision finishing touch , makes creative sets-up through traffic.

From the chat with Kyle Woodlief:

Red Line: Mid-round sleepers are always a favourite topic of mine... Daniel Pribyl, a late-blooming scoring winger from the Czech Republic....

Montreal selects Daniel Pribyl, Sparta Jr. Read his profile in the DobberHockey prospect report- you WILL be impressed by this player!

neofury* 06-25-2011 01:05 PM

He sounds like the Avtsin of this draft. Boom or bust.

Whitesnake 06-25-2011 01:09 PM

At that round, it's a great pick.

Ghetto Sangria 06-25-2011 01:12 PM

He turned 18 a few days before the U-20 tourney and scored 7 pts in 8 games with the Czechs... not bad at all

From Dobber's Fantasy Prospects Report 2011 :

Daniel Pribyl, RW
2010-11 Team: Sparta U20 (Czech U20)

For 6’3, 189 lbs power forward Daniel Pribyl, getting knocked out of the playoffs early might have been the best
thing that could have happened to his career. Eighth in Czech U20 scoring with 58 points in 41 games, Pribyl earned
a three-game call-up to the Sparta senior team in January but went pointless in limited action. Enter the postseason.
Headlining a deep and talented Sparta junior club, Pribyl and his team were expected to make a run all the way to
the U20 Finals. However, that dream came to an abrupt end in the semi-finals. Despite pulling a Jonathan Toews
and scoring on three consecutive shoot-out attempts in the final game of the series, Pribyl and Sparta were knocked
out by Karlovy Vary. Impressed by the youngster’s confidence, HC Sparta Praha head coach Miloslav Hořava called
up Pribyl for the relegation round, and the rest- as they say- is history. Pribyl tallied two goals and an assist in four
games- and should have had even more. According to one Czech media report, he was not credited with an assist on
a deserving play in a game against Brno. That same report called his points “Canadian”. Blessed with tremendous
stickhandling ability and a non-stop motor, Pribyl is a raw but intriguing talent. A capable skater at full-speed, he
will need to improve on his first few steps to be as good as he can possibly be.
Upside: Top-six power forward, 30-35-65
Projected Round: Round 6

He didn't play in the WJC.

The tournament he scored 7 PTS in 8 GP was for a U20 tournament for the Czech Republic, I believe.

Patccmoi 06-25-2011 01:20 PM

His profile makes me think of Pouliot. Let's hope he has some more self-confidence...

ChoseLa 06-25-2011 01:27 PM

Him and Beaulieu are the light of this draft, i don't know much about the rest. But Beaulieu is still awesome, we're lucky he droped that far.

Protest the Hero 06-25-2011 01:33 PM

Maybe he'll be drafted in the CHL import draft. Would be nice to see him on a team with familiar faces, whether they're our draft picks or not.

Little Nilan 06-25-2011 01:51 PM

I like it.

Team_Spirit 06-25-2011 01:58 PM

You are a big guy, with a ton of offensive skill, what do you see being your best attributes as a hockey player?

Daniel: I think that stick handling or knowledge in the game could be my best attributes. Is there an NHL player you style your game after? Daniel: It´s not like I´m staring at his every game and do everything like he does, but I like Aleš Hemský’s style. And, I always adore the game style of Mario Lemieux.
Yeah he's big but he's all about the skill.

Obviously being selected is a huge honor, but if you could pick the team that takes you in the 2011 Entry Draft who would you choose?

Daniel: As you say, it is a huge honor to be selected to an NHL team. But, if I really could make a choice, I prefer Pittsburg or Edmonton. I like the style of game of these teams. But, it’s the NHL, every team is really great.

Because of Aleš Hemský. Pittsburgh because of Lemieux, it's in the article you quoted. Plus, they have a history of being offensive/free skating minded.

That is exactly what I think, I am very happy with these 2 picks. The rest meh!!!

Scotianhab 06-25-2011 02:33 PM

He should give us a prospect at the WJC next year.

WeThreeKings 06-25-2011 02:53 PM

This is the pick I am excited about. Dripping with raw skill, a nice size, put some muscle on, work on that skating and we might have a player.

Richiebottles 06-25-2011 03:08 PM

Avtsin 2.0

NOTHING wrong with that :D

NLHabsFan 06-25-2011 03:12 PM

So seems to be mixed reports on position. Is he a winger or center? Or do he play both? Wonder what position he prefers and the one he plays better at.

Whitesnake 06-25-2011 03:13 PM

Well there goes my wish of him being drafted in the CHL Import draft and coming over....He said that he's playing with Sparta next year.

Watsatheo 06-25-2011 03:26 PM

I like this pick, ideal late round boom or bust pickup. :D
