Probably too concerned with his school work to be bothered with hockey.

HatTrick Swayze 06-26-2011 07:20 PM

Kreider is not on the roster, which is not surprising.

Nice to see that Miller and Fogarty will be attending since both are NCAA guys.

Pretty good group this year with all of our 2011 draftees + Hagelin, Thomas, Erixon, Pashnin, and McIlrath.

That is a real impressive list. Pretty much everyone is attending except Kreider.

This prospects camp, will it be the same roster as Traverse City? I'd love to see Erixon and McIlrath paired

Leslie Treff 06-26-2011 07:49 PM

I expect to be there a couple of days to be giving reports.

TheZherdev 06-26-2011 07:53 PM

I was surprised to see Pashnin's name there. I thought he had no intention of coming to NA. Isn't he supposedly really good? I mean he was at one point the first overall pick in the KHL draft...

He is expected to sign an ELC within days.

Probably not exactly the same. Most of the non-Rangers invitees to development camp won't be at TC. Both Erixon and McIlrath are expected to be in Michigan.

He had every intention of coming over. Most teams didn't do their hw on him. He is a player who hits to hurt and he is a good skater. He has alright size at about 6'0. I would think he will play at least 1 year in the AHL but he has a shot of making the NHL team right away.

White Plains Batman 06-26-2011 08:17 PM

Kreider is taking classes (summer classes are accelerated they cram everything into only a few weeks per session..it's a real pain, I did it one summer)and can't come unless he pays out of his own pocket or would lose all his NCAA eligibility so it's not a big deal or surprising he's not there.

I'm really impressed they got Ceresnak over from Slovakia so quickly. I don't think he was in Minnesota and that's a 48 hour turnaround.

Where's Max Campbell on this list? I know his rights are owned by the Whale but if Audy-Marchessault is there, why isn't Campbell to get acclimated with the system?

Glad to see Pashnin and the Swedes back.

As for the invitees; is that Don Maloney's kid and who is this KHL dude Nikita Zaytsev?

Edit: Just answered my own question thanks to Google;
Talent Analysis

Nikita Zaytsev is a talented two way defenseman whose top features are his good skating abilities and his passing play. He can open up the offensive rush with a long first pass for the rushing forward at the other end of the ice. The problem is that with Sibir in the KHL he didn’t show this kind of creativity as he played a more defensive role and in fact he scored only one point in the whole year. He doesn’t have a big frame at 6’1”, 176 lbs, but he is very strong and can be a valuable presence on the corners, even if he has to work on his positioning. He doesn’t have a great shot either and that’s why he might struggle a bit in getting on the score sheet if he doesn’t manage to rack up some points with his excellent first pass.
Future

Zaytsev will most likely be a dark horse on the selection day as the infamous Russian Factor will push him down a bit, but he has all the tools to develop into a reliable NHL defenseman. Having signed a three year deal with Sibir Novosibirsk after being drafted in the KHL junior draft, he's under contract with them until April 2012.

The second session of summer school for BC begins tomorrow. The first session ended on Friday. According to Clark,Kreider is taking 4 classes this summer to graduate earlier(fast track) and concentrate on his pro career after his junior year.

This is awesome. I went to school with him, friends with him. Great kid. He's a scrappy blue collar player. Completely fits the mold of what the rangers have going on right now. He reminds me of a combination of Prust/Callahan. He plays very hard and with a lot of heart. Fans would love him. I wish him good luck.:handclap:

I hope Erixon attending means that if the org thinks he's NHL ready he comes over to play and doesn't go back to the SEL for another year.
