Ryan White a reçu une offre qualificative du CH, comme Weber et Gorges. #Habs

For all the people freaking out in the Pouliot and Pyatt threads.

While the countdown to the opening of the July 1st free-agent market continues, the Canadiens have stayed busy, presenting qualifying offers to seven players that helped shape the Habs organization in 2010-11.

At this point, the Canadiens have the opportunity to match any offers made to seven of its players who are slated to become restricted free-agents on July 1st, if deals still haven’t been made with the team. The list of players includes Josh Gorges, Yannick Weber, Ryan White, Mathieu Carle, Kyle Klubertanz, Ryan Russell and Frédéric St-Denis.

Yeah! :)

Quarantesix 06-27-2011 05:46 PM

good choice PG

hockeyman* 06-27-2011 05:47 PM

Good Job PG, We kept the better 3 and dropped the waste.

Ollie Williams 06-27-2011 05:48 PM

Woohoo! Love Gorges.

Bieber fever 06-27-2011 05:49 PM

PG is a boss.

he just need to find a big top 6 foward and I'll be happy :)

montreal 06-27-2011 05:49 PM

wonder if any of the prospects got QO's. Carle, St-Denis and Russell are all RFA's as well.

Bullsmith 06-27-2011 05:49 PM

So two open forward slots, one d slot, possibly a 6-7-8 guy once Gorges comes back, especially if Yemelin finds a role.

One Man Rock Band 06-27-2011 05:50 PM

Good.

I wonder if Gorges is going to go to arbritation.

I can't seel PG offering more than $3M while Gorges probably should earn more like $3.5M or so.

3.5M? The guy is great defensive D that isn't physical and doesn't bring much offense. That's Gill money aka 2.25-2.75M

Plus he's still a RFA.

Markov - Subban
Gill - Gorges
Spacek - Yemelin
Weber - Diaz

There are NO open D slots. Bye Bye Wiz:shakehead

Just because he received a QO doesn't mean they aren't still going to negotiate. If he doesn't get one what he feels he deserves, he will go to arbitration.

Gill Doesn't even make that much. Gorges is reliable, I'll give you that, he's a freaking workhorse and takes many for the team. But I can't see why Gorges would get a higher amount then Gill (who has way more experience) on an RFA contract. If he were an offensive D ala PK, maybe. But he's a great shutdown D.

Sandvich 06-27-2011 06:04 PM

I told you guys that Weber would be qualify.

My source is very reliable.

Theres no saying that Diaz has a spot and we could end up dumping Spacek for a late draft pick. There is definetly a possibility in resigning wiz, especially since he wants to come back.

...

Well that was a given since Weber could play with Diaz the same role as Markov will do with Emelin.

Well, I accidentally hit $3M not $2M, opps. I had him at $2.75M in all my lineups posted around here if you need proof. :P

I meant to say PG is probably offering about $2M and Gorges probably wants closer to $2.5M-$3M.

THEIR Qualifying Offers can be two-way offers.

Pyatt, Picard and Pouliot had to get one-way offers.

Diaz will be in Hamilton (confirmed when he signed) barring injuries before camp. People keep saying Spacegoat isn't tradeable, but I think he is.

Ollie Williams 06-27-2011 06:18 PM

Boyd and Dawes also not qualified. http://canadiens.nhl.com/club/l_fr/news.htm?id=567406

Hamilton's top D pairing. With Nash or maybe Diaz (dunno which side they play).

You think Erik Cole? He will blow the bank 1st July, he are one of the only big body wings with 50 pts.

So, over 4,5 million for him I say no. His value around 4,250 millions

Kimota 06-27-2011 06:26 PM

I'm surprised by their decision with Carle, I thought he was a gonner for sure. I'm sort of happy he's getting another chance.

But i'm disapointed that Gorges only gets a year. The guy has been a horse for us.
