Étienne Brodeur invited to camp

He was the best goal scorer in the Q this year (53 goals)

I don't know the guy at all, but the situation reminds me a lot of Thomas Beauregard.

Give me Brent Benson or give me death.

At 5'9, he would be the perfect complement for DD and Dumont or Gallagher ! ;)

we have nothing to lose....but hes 5.9

JohnLennon 06-27-2011 07:21 PM

Before I pressed the link I was hoping he would be a little bit bigger. He isn't, but I'll stay optimistic. 53 goals in the Q is nothing to snuff at.

Canadian_Brewtality 06-27-2011 07:21 PM

habs fans have major major insecurities about a player's height its unreal.

One Man Rock Band 06-27-2011 07:21 PM

A lot of PIMs for someone so small.

Never seem him play.

Hopefully those are fiesty PIMs and not lazy hooking PIMs.

Thre would be less insecurity if we would have less of them.

Same kind of numbers Dumont put up. Is this guy as much of a shift disturber as him?

If he was bigger, he probably would be drafted..

I think it is a justified concern. The majority of top line players in the Habs' system are slightly undersized compared to the average hockey player. Habs players and prospects in the NHL, AHL and other leagues as well.

While it is not a huge concern seeing as the Habs thrive on their speed and skill, a little bit more size in the line up (especially on the top lines) can be quite beneficial.

DekeLikeYouMeanIt 06-27-2011 07:35 PM

Relatively disappointing playoffs from him (compared to reg season and also his teammate Chaput). Sign him if we have enough contracts to give out. Nothing to lose.

If you feel comfortable with Cammy, Plekky, Gomez and Gionta as the core of your top two lines, good luck for the Series. (Don't come back with the fluky 2010 Series)

I like and admire their courage. Period.

You won't win anything significant with that

Maybe. In his draft year he only had like 30 points or something.

Ice Poutine 06-27-2011 07:56 PM

At least he's a bit taller than Gionta. :)

love it. Brodeur explosed this year offensively, he's small about 5"8 ,good skater play hard but was never was a threat offensively until this year. not sure what happen but he was dominant last yr for the MaineIacs. Will play on the Big ice in Chicoutimi next yr if he doesnt play pro.

As do most scouts.. lol!!!

Richiebottles 06-27-2011 08:11 PM

Who need Grimaldi when you have this guy :sarcasm:

Monctonscout 06-27-2011 08:44 PM

BRodeur reminds me a lot of Marchand...including greaseball plays/hits.

Ohashi_Jouzu 06-27-2011 09:37 PM

I remember when Corey Locke went from scoring 18 goals and 43 points in the OHL one year, to 63 goals and 151 points the next. He went on to a pretty illustrious NHL career. Good times.

windycity 06-28-2011 08:53 AM

who cares - pure upside if he ever amounts to anything for us

montreal 06-28-2011 10:09 AM

After the season he just had I'm not surprised, good luck to him at camp. We will likely need to add some offensive depth, especially considering the lineup we currently have for Hamilton, granted that will change since we are early in the off season.

If he was 6'2" 195lbs he wouldn't even be available.

It isn't just habs fans.

24stanleycups* 06-28-2011 11:12 AM

This could end up being a steal of epic propotions. Mike Cammalleri is 5'9. That didn't stop him for putting up 40 goals and 80 points. Briere is just an inch taller. And how about Stlouis and gionta.
