This "should" be the last one.

SB164 06-30-2011 09:49 PM

Part 4? If he doesn't sign with the Habs, you're all gonna look stupid.

:sarcasm:

Geoff: Are you as excited as I am?
Pierre: Of course.
Geoff: Richards, Jagr, Gagne, Kaberle... this is gonna be great!
Pierre: We'll do our best :speechles

I actually believe now

Because of that crazynine fellow. I'm just really excited about tomorrow in general. Come on Gauthier make a reputation for yourself and save mine on HFBoards. I backed this guy as our GM and **** if he ****s up this golden opportunity to bolster the roster and make us a serious contender he is a ****ing tool.

I'd like to give thanks to that jags8686 dude who kept this thread going, as well as late bloomer ymorin. Without you we could not have pulled off 4. Thanks to everyone else for making this thread happen. You have no idea how many insecure people are cringing just at the sight of this thread

If Jagr follows the internet he probably knows habs fans are going nuts about the opportunity of having him play here. Sorry but I have never bought an official NHL jersey. If I do it's a red habs Jagr jersey if we get him. Make it happen Gauthier sell your merch!

groovejuice 06-30-2011 09:54 PM

It seems there is a lot of dissenting views about signing Jagr now, but I thought I'd share why the idea excites me.

The Habs is undoubtedly the most storied and successful franchise in the history of the NHL. 24 Championships, the most HOFers, arguably the best team ever assembled in pro sports = Habs late 70's. Do you realize if he's signed, he'll be the top career producer playing for a Montreal team?

Habs top career scorer = Guy Lafleur - 1276 ppoints
Jaromir Jagr - 1599 points

Jagr was also Hart Trophy finalist 6 times (won once)
Won Art Ross 5 times
Won Pearson 3 times

Ladies, this guy is in my book top 10 all time NHL (if you have him less than top 20 you're ********d)

Now all this means nothing really. He's 39 and away from ther NHL for some time. But did you see the World Championships? This man has fitness, he's got game, and I think he has something to prove. No doubt in my mind he'll make everyone better. NO BRAINER.

Pierre Mguire said on the team990 today that penguins offered 1.3 to 1.5 for one year to Jagr. Surely we can do better than that. If we can sign this guy for 2 million that' a good investment for a guy who can work the PP, probabley put up atleast 20 goals and 50 points, and can magically dissapear next year if we don;t want him anymore.

I'd just take a chance. For once can we be that club? **** it's not Gomez it's Jaromir Jagr! 4.5 mil per, 2 year deal.

Take the risk. We have cap space and a limited market to contend with. Nobody will offer him 2 deals or 4.5

Show Jagr you have confidence in him, pay him well let him live it up in Montreal. Be the hero he will become. Then after that he won't want to leave. The guy could potentially play till 43 and still be good.

habspinner 06-30-2011 10:00 PM

Ah screw it....give him 3M for the year, let's have our fun with him for a year, and that's it.

Can he really be that bad? At least it will be good for a laugh watching Martin try to get him to play defense - lol

PhysicX 06-30-2011 10:01 PM

We've reached part 4... we've done our job. Time for Gauthier to shine! I'm off to bed.

why pay him that when he's contemplating a deal for 1.5? he will obviously settle for much much less than that. And though I want Jagr on our team and think he can work the PP, i don't think a 39 year old should be given any m ore than one year.

cap10bfl 06-30-2011 10:08 PM

according to hockeyinsideout, with gorges, white and another forward, we have about 8m to spend on ufas...

jagr 5m
talbot 2m
backup 1m

PG JUST DO IT!

Honestly, I'd be satisfied if we got those two guys.

PricePkPatch 06-30-2011 10:13 PM

How much money do players get for each shirt with their name on?

Where is he gonna sale the most shirts you believe? Montreal, Pittsburg, or Detroit?

Hmmm... sale argument..

He'd probably sell more in MTL. That's no doubt. Most people already have Jagr material in Pitts.

How many threads did we make with the Hossa saga?

prairie hab 06-30-2011 10:30 PM

PG should just say ******* it, and attempt to either trade for a legitimate top 6 forward, or wait until the trade deadline when some teams will be looking to move contracts. Saving the $ for February is always wise, even though teams can overpay at that time of year as well.

This is Sundin all over again. Jagr would only be a one year experiment anyhow......
