wow.

interesting golden parachute choice.

Helton4Hall 07-01-2011 03:35 PM

quality backup signing.

The avs have done a good job signing today. We'll see about the trade.

LilySmoov 07-01-2011 03:36 PM

Best of luck, Giggy.

Vitto79 07-01-2011 03:36 PM

Varlamov and Giguerre not terrible

Elliot to Wings?

HOCKEYGOON 07-01-2011 03:36 PM

If anything he'll be a great mentor.

He was good at working with Reimer along with Allaire in Toronto but couldn't remain healthy.

Rivet52 07-01-2011 03:36 PM

Wow, wasn't seeing this coming. Varlamov and Giguere could be a pretty decent tandem. Giguere probably came pretty cheap too.

Devil Dancer 07-01-2011 03:36 PM

I will be highly entertained if Giggy wins the starting job.

PeterTheGreat 07-01-2011 03:37 PM

I like it. Can be a good mentor for Varlamov. He'll be a good locker room presence for our young kids and has Stanley Cup experience.

voxel 07-01-2011 03:37 PM

Avs not messing around in net. They addressed their D issues via trade... and with Lando they could make some noise.

DRL 07-01-2011 03:37 PM

a combo of varlamov and giguere is leaps and bounds better than elliot and budaj or even anderson and budaj.

Tinalera 07-01-2011 03:37 PM

Heads up to CO fans:

Giggy had groin surgery in the offseason and was on and off the injured list in Toronto for groin issues.

IF he stays healthy, he'll be a good backup-but Toronto fans will tell you, he is NOT the Stanley Cup winning JS, not by a long shot.

If he can play 20-30 games and stay healthy, good backup, but the health IS an issue.

Zodiac 07-01-2011 03:37 PM

awesome.

really solidified their goaltending situation.

that should be nice tandem right there.

TwoPadStack 07-01-2011 03:38 PM

Solid backup and mentor to Varlamov.

Let's wait to see the terms, though.

Corey Perry* 07-01-2011 03:38 PM

Yay, Jiggy's going to come back to Anaheim!!

I want to go to that first game against the Avs now!

Laus723 07-01-2011 03:38 PM

what the hell is Vokoun asking for? How are these two better than him? Really surprised by this.

BrickAHL 07-01-2011 03:39 PM

Cool, now can we re-sign Fleischmann?

Timbo Slice 07-01-2011 03:39 PM

The Avs definitely improved their goaltending. Colorado is going to be good next year...

Eaglepride* 07-01-2011 03:39 PM

good signing for the Avalanche. A healthy bouncing back JS could trun out to be a steal.

committedindian86 07-01-2011 03:40 PM

Where is Vokoun going? This is more interesting to me than wherever the hell Richards lands!

mightyquack 07-01-2011 03:40 PM

Great for Jiggy, increases his chances of playing a game in Anaheim the coming season as well

WalterSobchak 07-01-2011 03:40 PM

where the **** is Vokoun going now?

tony d 07-01-2011 03:40 PM

Good signing for Colorado. Giguere has lost a step but he's still a good player and should be a good mentor for Varlamov.

Louie the Blue 07-01-2011 03:41 PM

Avs are improving their goaltending situation big time today.

DatsyukOwns 07-01-2011 03:41 PM

Good signing.
Brings in experince, and he can help mentor varlamov
