Thomas Reed TReedDispatch
Dekanich played 43 games last season for Nahville's top minor-league team Milwaukee. He was 23-12-5 with a 2.02 GAA

DJAnimosity 07-01-2011 04:16 PM

I'd have kept Garon.

Fro 07-01-2011 04:16 PM

well Mase...its all on you to make this season

blahblah 07-01-2011 04:17 PM

Holy Lack of Experience Bat Man.

Goaliemon89 07-01-2011 04:18 PM

Mitch Korn & the Preds know they're goalies....let's hope.

I'm guessing Ian Clark had a say in this signing...

leesmith 07-01-2011 04:18 PM

THIS move makes me a bit nervous. :amazed:

pckstpr31 07-01-2011 04:18 PM

Dekanich is a quality proven AHL guy, he wouldve backed up Rinne in Nashville last year, but Lindback got the job somehow. Dekanich was fully expected to get it though, so he should be a pretty good guy, although a little inexperienced at the NHL level.

Double-Shift Lassť 07-01-2011 04:20 PM

If anyone thought this was going to go exactly the way we wanted...

Hugg 07-01-2011 04:21 PM

I've heard this kid is pretty good from my time living in Nashville and the few friends I have that are Preds fans.

Could be a steal.

Fred Glover 07-01-2011 04:23 PM

Granted he has no NHL experience, but he does, it seems have talent. He is a young talent, so let's see what happens. If we get another NHL d man, Mase will be alright. Besides, it is time for Mase to step up.

Socks 07-01-2011 04:23 PM

Where's Viq? She's our resident Preds expert.

Matthew 07-01-2011 04:23 PM

Nashville has a proven track record of developing NHL goalies.

Hopefully they continued it with this guy just for us.

cjerina 07-01-2011 04:24 PM

Ads season ticker holder here... you'll like Dekanich. Not flashy, but really solid-down low. Only weakness I would say is his glove. Struggled in the shoot-out in 2009/10, got send down to the ECHL for a weekend and came back and has dominated since.

Got hurt in San Antonio just before the playoff push in March and never got a chance to play in the playoffs.

CBJSprague24 07-01-2011 04:25 PM

Wat

e- Ok, I'm a little happier reading the reviews from Preds fans.

He'll fit right in here.

sc37 07-01-2011 04:26 PM

Solid minor league stats...I guess if he bombs during preseason, we'll be hitting the trade block/waiver wire. This better give Mason some confidence....

Fro 07-01-2011 04:26 PM

sweet...left handed Mason!

Roadman 07-01-2011 04:27 PM

Been asking for a young talent to push Mason.

Sounds like this may be it.

Certainly a step outside the box of recycling yet another "can't start anymore" vet.

This is stupid. Letting your hockey people help determine player personnel direction when we message boarders have had a working list for hours?

Full disclosure: I'd still have preferred say Turco or Emery. But the truth is we've seen lots of emerging goalie talent in the past 3-4 seasons, so who knows?

WhydoesCanadahateus 07-01-2011 04:28 PM

He is not exactly what you would call young. He's 31

DJAnimosity 07-01-2011 04:28 PM

Well, now that Howson has Springfield's goalies signed, let's concentrate on the CBJ.
