woot!

hfboardsuser 07-01-2011 04:17 PM

Well, with Eager, Barker, Hordichuk and now Belanger, it's safe to say that no free agents would ever sign with a lottery team. :sarcasm:

Ice Whole 07-01-2011 04:17 PM

Love it. :handclap: Third line center that can win faceoffs, kill penalties, contribute offensively and is exactly what we needed

NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS 07-01-2011 04:18 PM

What a steal.

Naych_PHX 07-01-2011 04:19 PM

He's a very stable player, he just seems to wear out his welcome after a year almost everywhere he goes.

OilerTyler 07-01-2011 04:19 PM

Beautiful signing.

Topkatz 07-01-2011 04:19 PM

Love it. A good 3rd line centre.

Though the Oilers now have a ton of t centers.

RNH
Gagner
Horcoff
Belanger

Maybe the plan is for RNH not to play this year?

3 years at 1.75? Wow amazing signing!

Fel 96 07-01-2011 04:21 PM

Now, that's a great signing by the Oilers.

calahanzoer 07-01-2011 04:21 PM

Great signing!

Yeah15 07-01-2011 04:22 PM

Great signing, glad to have a guy that can actually win a face off on the team.

SCinSJ 07-01-2011 04:22 PM

Damn! I wanted Belanger for the Sharks... I guess the term pushed Wilson away. $1.75m is a good price for Belanger but 3 years is kinda a long time for a guy like him

Doug Height 07-01-2011 04:22 PM

One of the few good deals of the day.

gotmonte 07-01-2011 04:22 PM

Very nice signing. As s rangers fan, I'm jealous

Tavaresmagicalplay* 07-01-2011 04:25 PM

It was likely the years that made him sign. Grinders don't usually get the term.

Koto 07-01-2011 04:26 PM

anyone know if that foster-sutton exchange is real, or was that a mistake by tsn?

Brewsky 07-01-2011 04:27 PM

Good signing. Like this one.

Gobo 07-01-2011 04:27 PM

Nice deal and fills a huge hole for the Oilers.

It's being reported on our Oilers' board by TSN's Ryan Rishaug as official -- Sutton for Foster straight up. Check his Twitter.

He is a good tough minutes player. Anybody with interest in advanced statistics should love this signing.. good for the Oilers.

Fire Sweeney 07-01-2011 04:32 PM

Ideal 3rd line center, excellent on faceoffs.

OilerTyler 07-01-2011 04:33 PM

"5 other teams in the mix on Belanger, most from the west. Nice get for Oilers who need help on draws. Belanger 55 percent last year." - Ryan Rishaug

First deal the Oilers have done that I'm really happy about. I was pretty happy about Eager. Luke warm at best on the rest, but Belanger is a solid hockey player who fills a hole on this team.

Good dollar amount for a 35-40 point centerman.

Lux Aurumque* 07-01-2011 04:34 PM

Belanger didn't really "bash" Winnipeg. He said Quebec City should get a team first, and that he'd rather play there. I don't see a problem with that.

Really glad to see the Oilers pick up Belanger. He came at a good price too.
