Roman Hamrlik appreciation thread

Thank you Roman for the 4 years with us! You were a great player and a great teammate. Good luck in Washington!

He was well worth his contract during his tenure here. No question.

He got a lot of unnecessary flak around here, especially this season. He could've still be a serviceable player in our line up but ultimately terms on the contract front was what seperated the two sides. I like to think we made a good decision not offering a multiple year deal, but that's just me.

Best of luck in Washington! *expect against the Habs*

Wasn't it 5 years?

Regardless, Hammer was as reliable as they came (for the most part). A rock, a stud in his own end when his minutes were kept in check.

Thanks for being a soldier.

Wish him all the best, he was a very underrated memeber of the team, especially the last 2 years loggng huge minutes at times.

Great work for this underappreciated player that was awesome for us. Would have welcome him anytime...just not at that amount. Thanks again, and have a blast. You deserve it.

Worked his ass off, was a great player for us. Even tho it was time to move on, we'll miss you! Good luck in Washington!

Thank you Hammer !

SUper pro, and really stepped his game up when Markov was injured

Great signing by Gainey, great player for the team.

Held together the defense when Markov was out, played solid as the number 2. Could do everything pretty well. Will be missed but it was time to go.

Le Tricolore 07-01-2011 07:13 PM

One of the best Habs, post lockout. Was always extremely underrated with the team as well. LOVE him.

I respect the effort he put forth for the habs!
good luck to him

3 games away from tying Bobby Holik for the most NHL games ever played by a Czech player. All the best to Roman in a great career.

He was one of the unheralded heroes of the past few years for the Habs.
Great guy, great player, wish him the best in Washington :)

Teufelsdreck 07-01-2011 08:04 PM

It should have been Spacek. Too bad.

Kimota 07-01-2011 08:10 PM

Good or bad he gave his all. Scored several important goals for us and when Markov went down last year, he made up for it. That was a good signing by Bob back in the day.

One Man Rock Band 07-01-2011 08:10 PM

Awesome player. One of our best in recent years. Most consistent. Always gave an honest effort. Thank you, Roman!

HCH 07-01-2011 08:15 PM

A true pro in every sense of the word from the day he joined the Habs. I'm glad he cashed in and hope he has two more good years.

I guess it doesn't settle the argument about whether he or Gill is more valuable but someone obviously thinks so

DekeLikeYouMeanIt 07-01-2011 08:30 PM

A bit of a dick move to turn down our offer, but hey he was solid the last 4 seasons.

I don`t see why it was a selfish move on his part. He wanted some security and not to be treated as a mercenary.

The Russian General 07-01-2011 09:07 PM

He was a workhorse during his tenure as a Hab. He rarely missed games and was reliable. Only thing was that he was overplayed because Markov was injured more often than not. Thank God for Gill, Gorges and Subban being as good as they were or else, the poor Hamr would've been alone to hold Habs defense together.

He will be missed.
