In a close fight, first rounder J.T. Miller beat out Carl Hagelin for the #7 spot. Andrew Yogan won a spot in a close fight.

Don't forget to write-in who should be added in the next round. Also would be good to include a discussion/argument on why you voted for a particular prospect.

"There was no one (on the board) that had all the qualities that JT had. There could be someone who will score more goals, there could be somebody that's going to be a faster skater, but if you want to put size with skating with character with grit with work ethic with playmaking ability and scoring ability, no one had all those qualities in their game. He had them all."

Hagelin. Add Fogarty.

Beacon 07-04-2011 04:21 PM

Add Dale Weise. He's very close to making the NHL, and will likely play a 20-35 games for the Rangers this season.

Voted for Hagelin for the same reason: he's on the verge of making the NHL, he's fast, he has offensive skill, he is good defensively, he was by far his team's leader in scoring in college for two years, and he was the team captain leading the team to the Finals. He should be a third liner at a minimum, and maybe he might become a second liner.

Fitzy 07-04-2011 04:22 PM

Hagelin, add St. Croix. Forgarty and St Croix up soon for me, then maybe Pashnin.

N9Y4R 07-04-2011 04:25 PM

Hagelin

Add Fogarty

broadwayblue 07-04-2011 04:28 PM

Can't imagine this round lasting more than a couple hours. lol

Add Fogerty and McColgan.

n8 07-04-2011 04:30 PM

AGAIN!

Hagelin, add Bourque.

Beacon 07-04-2011 04:31 PM

I must say the number of decent prospects is at an long-time low, probably since the 2004 draft. Our top prospects, on the strength of the acquisition of Erixon and the emergence of McD and Thomas, are still great, but the number of second-tier prospects is lower than ever since the rebuild began.

Ih8theislanders 07-04-2011 04:40 PM

Close between V-tank and Hagelin, went Hagelin. Add Pashnin.

Zil 07-04-2011 04:42 PM

Hagelin, add Bourque

NYRSchrute217 07-04-2011 04:49 PM

Hagelin, add Bourque

VTank. Add Bourque.

JimmyStart* 07-04-2011 05:10 PM

cant believe both of our first round picks got the nod over Hagelin. The potential definitely should not outweigh how close Hagelin is and what he's done so far. Definitely Hagelin all the way here.

Hensch 07-04-2011 05:11 PM

Hagelin, add Bourque

eco's bones 07-04-2011 05:14 PM

Hagelin. Weise.

TheRedViper 07-04-2011 05:21 PM

Hagelin, add Fogarty.

Beacon 07-04-2011 05:33 PM

This looks to be a blowout. If we Hagelin gets 50+ votes with over 90% of the vote, I will call this round.

nyr2k2 07-04-2011 07:36 PM

Hagelin, add Foges.

BlueshirtBlitz 07-04-2011 07:40 PM

Hags, Bourque.

Vitto79 07-04-2011 07:44 PM

Really? I actually completely disagree.

With our most recent draft, I think the pool is deeper than ever. We're already 7 deep as of this vote, and I like every single choice available in the current thread, plus Fogarty, St. Croix, McColgan and Partlett. After that, I think there's a huge drop off, but I know that others love Bourque and Weise. And I personally am intrigued by the big Czech kid as well as JAM, although I recognize that they're long shots (and we can't vote for JAM). Still, that's at least 20 deep!

In any event, I'm voting Fasth again. Add Fogarty.

Agreed.

I said add Bourque, but I might even vote for a guy like McColgan or Fogarty depending on what i'm thinking when that poll comes around. We have a very, very deep group right now of solid guys.

broadwayblue 07-04-2011 07:53 PM

We are pretty deep...but #2, 3 and 6 will likely be off the board by the end of this season. Fortunately the team is quite young so we won't have to rely on inserting a lot of prospects in the lineup going forward.

I think you'll feel differently by the mid-season ranking, as a lot of the guys we just drafted will be establishing themselves and good prospects and becoming household names.
