Landing Ladd...

As per TSN: Ladd going to Arbitration

http://tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=370925

what would it take to land Ladd??

Ladd--BR--Gabby......:amazed::amazed::amazed:
Dubi--Anismov--Cally
Avery/MZA--Stepan--Wolski/MZA
Prust--Boyle-Fedo

MDZ, Wolski , Christensen and a pick for Hainsey and Ladd??....we throw in Avery maybe....sign and package w/Prospal.....hmmmm...
How about Wolski, MDZ and a pick.....or MDZ, Borque and a pick?

Clowes Line 07-04-2011 06:43 PM

I'd like to land Ladd without giving up DZ.

How about:

Wolski, EC, Bourque, 1st and a 4th in next years draft, for Ladd. Is that overpaying or underpaying?

wolfgaze 07-04-2011 06:44 PM

Quantity does not equal quality. Highly doubt the Jets deal their captain regardless.

Morris201 07-04-2011 06:45 PM

Ladd would be nice, but in all likeliness he will be signed. He was named their captain last year and it was the first time he wasn't buried on a roster like Car/Chi. TSNE has so much money to spend on him, it's just a matter of time.

Shame, Dubi and Cally are in that article too. Hopefully we lock them up soon.

That would be great but I doubt that package would get him and especially with other teams more then likely bidding as well.

Pass. I dont want to trade MDZ until I see some more out of him. Lets see what training camp brings for Michael.

UAGoalieGuy 07-04-2011 06:54 PM

Guy had 29 goals last season. They are not goiong to trade him for crap, more crap, and a late first.

They more then likely do not need another PMD either, so I do see them wanting MDZ.

RangerBoy 07-04-2011 06:54 PM

Just because Ladd is filing for arbitration tomorrow doesn't mean he is getting traded.

Callahan and Dubinsky must be getting traded then because they're filing tomorrow.

You obviously mistook what he was saying.

I think with Richards we have enough scoring. That should make the power play potent and the first line with Gabby scoring 40 goals again (i truly believe gaborik has a turn around 40+ goal year unless he gets too banged up) and cally and dubi will pot 25+ goals each. And you have to think if Wolski plays on gaboriks line, he pots 25+ goals.

So I dont really see scoring being a problem. This all depends on how B. Richards excels in New York of course. But I think he will be just fine. And if he can replicate his last year he gets 28 goals himself. Thats a guestimation (purely speculative) of 93 goals from the top line. And 60+ goals from the second line. Thats 153 goals from the top two lines and not including the Power Play or the third line potting goals as well.

I know it is mere speculation on my part and a healthy dose of wishful thinking, but I believe it can be done.

Kreider + MDZ + Wolski (cap) for Ladd + Bogosian

Ladd - Richards - Gaborik
Dubinsky - Anisimov - Callahan
Zuccarello - Stepan - Boyle/Thomas
Prust - Rupp - Fedetenko
Staal - Girardi
McDonagh - Bogosian
Erixon - Sauer

Set for a LONG time. Bogosian hits his prime just as Girardi starts to slow down, with Bogo becoming Staal's RH partner on the top pairing and Girardi dropping to the mid pairing where McD's speed will keep him covered for a long time. Ladd is young and could be a staple on a line with Richards. The "pack line" stays together.

We give up some assets, but we become a dangerous team for YEARS to come. Our defense would be, probably, the best young defense in the entire NHL, top to bottom. Losing Kreider is softened by drafting JT Miller and still having Thomas, Zuccarello and Stepan.

Will cost too much, not worth it.

Horrendous deal for the Jets. It's essentially Kreider for Ladd, and Del Zotto/Wolski for Bogosian.

And I don't even like Bogosian -- just keep it to Ladd.

I am not sold on the JT Miller draft pick just yet. I AM sold on Kreider though.

I understand you have to give to get.. I rather target a different asset to be honest with you. I cant see Winnipeg/Atlanta losing their Captain in the midst of a transition period from Atlanta to Winnipeg. I just dont see it. Not the CAPTAIN.

And what it would cost to get mr. Ladd... I am not thrilled with that option.

JeffMangum 07-04-2011 07:20 PM

TJ Miller?

It's JT.

Imagine how much you'd want for Dubi ....

Well add a lil more to that & you have what'll take to get Ladd, IMO.

I doubt anyone here would actually part with what'd be needed.

you raise a good point...helps understand the comparison and what would be needed....wish we'd invested in Ladd when he seemed to be passed around from team to team...

Swept In Seven 07-04-2011 08:11 PM

Not going to happen, although I would love to have Ladd

Leetch3 07-04-2011 08:16 PM

Ladd would be the perfect fit for our top line...but guarantee the price it would cost would cost HF to crash with all the people freaking out over zomg we gave up our future...to think we can get him for guys like wolski and christensen is silly. if you could get him without including dubi, cally or staal it would be lucky

BklyNYR4Life 07-04-2011 08:33 PM

I imagine the phone conversation goes something like this:

Sather: "I hear Ladd is going to arbitration. Any interest in trading him?"

Winnipeg: "I hear Callahan and Dubinsky are going to arbitration. Any interest in trading them?"

There's just no logical way this happens. Even if Winn isn't competing for a cup now, they still need to be marketable to their fans and to other players for the future. Trading away their captain for assets, simply won't do that. If there was a way to acquire him without touching the core, but I just don't see how it happens. They'd want a similar quality forward coming back. Then the deal is a wash.

Leetch3 07-04-2011 08:50 PM

still unlikely but the jets are probably more likely to listen to offers if he doesn't file for arbitration then if he does. if he goes to arbitration that guarantees that he'll be under contract, no chance of a hold out so no reason to move him.

one thing for us to keep an eye on is that if he gets a 1 year arbitration deal i'm pretty sure he'd be a UFA and possibly available at the deadline if the jets don't think they could sign him...doesn't help us right now but i'd gladly wait

Darrelle Lundqvist 07-04-2011 09:14 PM

There's no way the Jets do this. IMO
