Nice to have him signed, and a short deal too which benefits both player and team. :handclap: Hopefully he can continue to build on a successful first year.

Awesome, wish he could have worked out in Nashville, he is a nice guy and a hard worker, good to see him succeed with the Panthers.

In b4 "huge overpayment" nonsense.

Pure West 07-06-2011 03:17 PM

Good for Mike, a good Burnaby kid. I wish him well, I was wondering what his role was gonna be after the Panthers acquired 2 entire lines worth of players this offseason.

bcv 07-06-2011 03:18 PM

overpayment and the terms are horrible.

2nd line center is his unless he loses it in camp.

Thought it was meant as a joke but didn't know for sure because you forgot to add the :sarcasm:

Good signing.

ShootIt 07-06-2011 03:30 PM

Was one of the few bright spots for the Panthers last year.

Like the length, and don't really care what the hit is.

ursavolta 07-06-2011 03:57 PM

I always liked santorelli and im glad with the signing, hopefully things start to click for him so he can continue his stat trend and work on his defensive game.

Good things coming to pantherland!

jmelm 07-06-2011 05:24 PM

This guy may have been the most under-appreciated player in the league last year. He was very solid and hopefully that trend continues for the Panthers.

He reminds me a lot of Tyler Kennedy, and I wouldn't be surprised to see him with a very similar contract.

Is sarcasm really that hard to understand, or is it just a cultural barrier? I really can't tell. And by the way, it kind of destroys the point of being sarcastic if you have to put a yellow pisshead smiley at the end of each post in order for people to understand it.

God bless America

When Americans don't get sarcasm it's a sad, sad day... Especially when it's obvious. Guess which finger I'm holding up :sarcasm:

Santorelli is a sick player. As long as it's around $1M per, it's a good deal.

JeffMangum 07-06-2011 07:52 PM

Love Santorelli. Excellent 3rd/2nd line center, with SICK hands.

You don't get a 40 point scorer (20g 21a last year) for 1 mill. I'm guessing around 2(+) million. Good player, good signing.

RandV 07-06-2011 08:10 PM

So completely ignoring specific playing styles, is Santorelli more of a Rich Peverley type, unexpected breakout player leading to better things, or a a Ryan Potulny, who benefits from a weak team to put up a decent .50 PPG pace over 63 games but then disappears the next season cause he's not really an NHL caliber player?

Fleury14 07-06-2011 09:01 PM

I think his overall talent level is about on par with Peverley. Not as good defensively, but I think his offensive instincts and scoring ability is a bit better.

brtriad 07-06-2011 09:03 PM

Reminds me of the Sharp trade Tallon made. This kid is a gem.

Kopifart 07-06-2011 09:04 PM

Santorelli is pretty underrated put up quite 40 points playing in Florida. I think he has the ability to hit 60 points.
