Off-Season Talk: Who Comes And Who Goes ‎- Part II

part 2

ThunderRoad 07-07-2011 10:38 PM

Any chance we could still bring Lundin back? Really want to see him in a Lightning uniform next season - Gervais can be the new Matt Smaby and Gilroy with Randy Jones' spot.

Lundin is just a smart hockey player - he might need some strength training but that is much easier to rectify than trying to teach hockey IQ. And while Lundin wasn't as effective in the playoffs, it was his first taste of what it takes in the postseason - might be the motivator he needs to add some body strength.

Vinny is also in need of a new linemate...again. :sarcasm:

LightningStrikes 07-08-2011 01:35 AM

From the sounds of it Yzerman is done signing UFAs. So I'm not sure we will see Lundin return.

Drouin2Stamkos 07-08-2011 04:12 AM

Something tells me we will still go after a defenseman. I just dont see how our current D can get it done.

ultra63 07-08-2011 08:08 AM

Tampa Bay Lightning fans have bigger worries besides Steven Stamkos' contract

A fair summary.

"In terms of sheer contracts walking out the door, only four teams have lost a more valuable collection of players than Tampa Bay this offseason."

Who are the other four?

My guess would be Phoenix (Bryzgalov - though he was technically traded, Fiddler and Jovanovski), Florida (Vokoun), Dallas (B.Richards) and then maybe either Nashville (Joel Ward and Sullivan), Boston (Kaberle, Ryder and Recchi) or Vancouver (Torres and Ehrhoff - though they got a 4th round pick for him).

"Valuable" isn't that important, productivity is.

The arb hearing for the Lightning and Teddy Purcell is set for July 20. Can they come to an agreement before that? Both sides predict it.

Ouch. Tampa got Screwed. They lost Cedrick Desjardins to Colorado.
:skeptic:

BeachBolt 07-08-2011 04:09 PM

Someone fill me in on how we got screwed?

Hockeyfan02 07-08-2011 04:12 PM

Tik's the guy in Norfolk now, hopefully he plays like he did in the second half last year.

Doctor Drej 07-08-2011 06:07 PM

With Tik, Janus, and Nagle all in the minors there really wasn't any place for Desjardins to go except the back-up spot here. Add in a bum shoulder and already signing Garon then it just became not worth bringing him back.

Desjardins if he can get healthy could get some significant NHL playing time since the two goalies Colorado has are made of glass.

Picklepete 07-08-2011 06:11 PM

We lost Cedrick..

To Avalanche ! Damn..

Cedrick Desjardins has agreed to a one-year contract with the Colorado Avalanche.
Desjardins had a 2.59 GAA and .905 save percentage in 24 games with AHL Norfolk last season. He also had a 1.00 GAA and .968 save percentage in two contests with the Tampa Bay Lightning.
He'll probably start the 2011-12 season in the minors.

Ramo will be an NHL number one someday. The trade was a horrible one from the beginning!!!

Bish Please 07-08-2011 07:33 PM

We got 2 wins out of CD, let's see if Ramo ever comes over before we call it "horrible".

This.

Besides CD in my opinion, performed way better than Ramo did.

TBLHoser 07-08-2011 10:12 PM

Well, it's only a 1 year contract. They can always pick him back up next year if he becomes available and SFY wants him back or he wants to come back.

He's not coming back to the NHL unless he get's that number 1 job, which no one will guarantee him.

LightningStrikes 07-09-2011 02:26 AM

I wish we would have re-signed Desjardins (despite his slowly healing injury). He was very solid in his two NHL games and he did very well in Norfolk. It never hurts to have solid goalie depth. Anyone know the terms? If it's league minimum I'll be a little pissed.

Felonious Python 07-09-2011 06:09 AM

Levi Nelson signs with ESV Kaufbeuren in Germany's 2nd league.

I think it's good, now Tik is the clear nr 1 down there, if he plays well this season I do hope we will see him in Lightning next season!
