Washington Capitals Prospect Poll #5

Washington Capitals Top Prospects as voted by HFBoards

1. Evgeny Kuznetsov - F, Traktor Chelyabinsk (KHL)
2. Braden Holtby - G, Hershey Bears (AHL)
3. Dmitri Orlov - D, Hershey Bears (AHL)
4. Cody Eakin - F, Kootenay Ice (WHL)

Added Grubauer and Koudys.

NobodyBeatsTheWiz 07-11-2011 01:30 AM

I'll go with Galiev, and Herbert for the addition.

Ovechkins Wodka 07-11-2011 02:30 AM

Big drop off from #4 but voted Sjogren just bc hes the most NHL ready

Caps Crazy 07-11-2011 07:31 AM

Voted for Wey who is direct contrast to Orlov.
Right handed, stay at home, defensive defenseman.
I think you will see a bigger, stronger version of him at development camp.
Believe you do not hear or see much about him because he is still in NCAA.

Agreed on both counts.

CapsWolverinesUSA 07-11-2011 09:29 AM

Talk about dropping off the cliff from 1-4 to #5...I don't think any players on this list are likely to ever establish a permanent role in DC. However, I think Galiev has the most talent of the bunch so I went with him.

I think Galiev and Wey are both promising (although Galiev is probably a boom/bust type), and you never know with the goalies as well. But yeah, pretty dramatic no matter how yous lice it.

Obviously it was very limited viewing, but I wasn't impressed by Wey at last year's WJC. He wasn't 'bad', but he was noticiably slower than everyone else on our blueline. He was often chasing plays. If you're slow at the junior level, you're not going to make it in the NHL unless you have some other phemoninal element to your game. And Wey doesn't.

Hope I'm wrong.

Agree with Galiev being boom/bust.

strungout 07-11-2011 09:42 AM

Wey

Add whoever.

While we're at it, let's add Carlson and Johansson to the poll for round 6.

IceBjoern 07-11-2011 10:37 AM

Went with Sjögren.

Mystlyfe 07-11-2011 10:39 AM

Sjogren

Herbert

…or read the definition of prospect as it pertains to these polls and see how Carlson and Johansson aren't Calder eligible and Sjögren is.

Galiev, and Herbert. The additions at this point are getting ugly for myself. I'm lucky if I've read an article and/or seen some Youtube clips for any of them. :help:

The point is that NHL-readiness really shouldn't be the basis of the choices. I guess I should have said let's all vote for Perreault, or something, instead.

FrankM73 07-11-2011 03:43 PM

Galiev

add Herbert

He has been overlooked...no longer Calder eligible but by HF criteria he's still considered a prospect.

RandyHolt 07-11-2011 04:37 PM

Sjogren, a man among boys.

Add Carrier.
