Like the title, will have to make the next one about Madson (Contreras-*******-....)

Jtown 07-12-2011 12:44 PM

Love the title, and Chooch on the cover of SI , i remember thinking who the hell is going to replace LIberthal...and there was this carlos ruiz guy , and i thought oh great. Now Chooch is the freakin man, and owns the cover of S.I.

****... he's going to blow his knee out now.

Phileeguy 07-12-2011 01:42 PM

I wonder if there was a little behind the scenes dealing at SI for this week's cover. I love Chooch as much as anyone, but you'd think a bigger deal like Jeter's 3000th or the ASG would've been on it this week.

Smith is one of the best writers out there... Thus the cover.

Oh I didn't see that little part about who wrote the piece. Yeah, you're probably right on that count. But Posnanski isn't a scrub either.

It's a regional cover. Jeter has the full cover in NY, and probably most of the country.

Chicken Chaser 07-12-2011 03:21 PM

cool, thanks Beef!

Love that SI Cover, he may not have gotten a ton of national media attention before, but everyone in and around the Phillies appreciates him for sure.

edit: Figures they can't get a decent shot of him at home, instead they have St. Louis?? wtf

Fact or Fiction: Antonio Bastardo is the future closer for the Phillies.

Fiction, lefty specialist for now. Look for aumont to come into the role by next year , especially if Madson leaves. Aumont has a wicked k/per 9. He is starting to put it together.

GKJ 07-12-2011 04:07 PM

Good to hear about Aumont. Kid brought it at the WBC.

Hitters have gotta figure him out at some point. Very little mystery there.

Fiction. I love the way he is pitching, but I think hitters may figure him out. Needs to get a 3rd pitch most likely. I could be wrong.

Aumont as closer next year? Don't think so. But I love the way he has progressed in his move back to the bullpen.

Tell ya one thing, his .132 BABIP isn't holding there.

Yea, thats the main thing I was looking at. certain pitchers based on how they pitch can change that number a bit, but thats unrealistic to keep up. Rivera never even had one below like 220.

Gibbs18 07-12-2011 05:56 PM

To the person who posted that pic of the 3-d thing at CBP. I walked by that when I was at the game on sunday

SolidSnakeUS 07-12-2011 07:43 PM

Halladay just breezed through the first.

DeadPhish5858 07-12-2011 07:44 PM

Damn Halladay looked pretty good.

DeadPhish5858 07-12-2011 08:14 PM

Well the Phillies did their jobs today.

Yep. Glad they got through their innings easily without throwing too many pitches.

King Forsberg 07-12-2011 08:22 PM

Phillies proved they deserve to be there. Time for the rest of the NL to show up

Yoshimitsu 07-12-2011 08:25 PM

I spoke too soon, Lee is still in.

King Forsberg 07-12-2011 08:27 PM
